The proposal.

https://mdstad.com/sites/default/fil...%208.23.23.pdf

Laurel gets three surfaces including Tapeta. Pimlico becomes a multi use facility with a 1 month meet around the Preakness. Baltimore has two very large festivals every year that’s held in Druid Hill Park. A logistical nightmare for the police. Pimlico will be a place for Afram and Artscape festivals.

They also discussed turning Pimlico’s track sideways and making Pimlico the only track. They would need to turn the track to allow enough room for 3 surfaces. The Orioles and Ravens are also getting a combined 800 million for upgrades to Camden Yards. I think part of those upgrades will be a place to hold the festivals. The money comes from taxes on slots and marijuana. Maryland legalized marijuana last election and it’s created a tax windfall.

Pimlico in the first proposal would become a year round training facility and get new barns. Horse racing is a priority in Maryland.
Did I see correctly on p.29 that the estimated cost of renovating both Pimlico and Laurel is $760 million?

Better take care of Orioles/Camden Yards renewal first, otherwise Angelos will be off to Nashville

I hope they squeeze him out…. The commissioner almost stepped in a year ago. Angelos family is broke, and when their dad passes no way they can pay the taxes on the team they’ve already mortgaged away. A player went to arbitration a few years ago, and Angelos asked him if he could pay the 8 million he won over 2 years. A billion dollar team and they couldn’t get a loan for 8 million. It’s only a matter of time before they sell.

They’ve been nursing on the people of Maryland’s teet long enough. They’re in the same category as Joe DeFrancis Jr.

Being part of Maryland does mean that Baltimore City residents in part fund the Maryland Stadium Authority along with every other Maryland taxpayer

As far as the Nashville threat, that city is going to have a lot of teams when the White Sox, Orioles, and Brewers all move there. That's the plan, right? It's more likely that MLB forces a sale of the O's than it is for the O's to move to Nashville.

Someone is going to Nashville, just a question of who can extort a new deal from existing city and who decides to pull the relocation trigger first, O’s, Brewers or ChiSox.
