Thanks Mike. Keep us posted. This board was the first to report the bad handle on opening day as far as I know.

The second race comparisons are so bad you wouldn't believe me. On a direct date comparison, this yr had 4 betting interests against 10 a yr ago, which is certainly a huge factor. On a first Monday comparison, it was 4 interests against 5. Even using the first Monday comparison, the numbers are very bad.

It was a 5 horse field with a late scratch and a heavy favorite.

After yesterday I believe you.

I think you were the first to notice the bad numbers.

Thumbs up

Dean, I see you got your sense of humor back today! And today's a new day, so I've dropped all my grievances against you.

I hate to say it but I was not aware of those takeout figures, Trying2win. So I just checked today's DRF. All the takeouts are too high!

Adios, Calder.

LOL

As much as I appreciate Saratoga Mike keeping track of the numbers,
I'd like to caution that this race is a marathon.

There will not be a sudden change of heart by the TOC/CHRB.
They're going to go the full rounds rather than admit their mistake.

Horseplayers should be planning for a long term rope-a-dope session
on the boards and in the media before things get better out in California.
Right now their modus operandi is taking a beating.

25% purse increases for the second half of the SA winter meet?
Not if horse racing's customers have any say against this arrogant display
of greediness and mismanagement.

Races 5 to 8: WPS down a ton using 12/27 vs 12/27 (Monday vs a Sunday--unfair compare, imo)

Races 5 to 8: WPS up about 4% using first Monday against first Monday, but they were aided today by a 100k stake and another $150k one (none last yr on the first Monday)

I agree with TKS - two days of data don't make a trend.

If they make any comments on today's results, I'd bet a lot of money they compare today's results to the first Monday, which is probably the fair way to look at things.
