Huge win for our guys.
If you want be among the best you need to be able to win a 1-0 game like they did today.
Our real chance will be in 2026 when this young team will have played together more and matured.

Going to be a tough match in the Round of 16 as we have to defeat Holland, the Netherlands, and the Dutch all in one game

TEAM USA !!!

Well done USA for getting through to the next round, an excellent result for you. I didn't see the game as I was obviously watching England v Wales, but I hoped you played well and wish you well in what will be a tough game against the Netherlands.

A great performance from England to beat Wales and they played really well, one of the better performances from anyone so far, I think. So much better than their poor performance against the US. Senegal next for us.

people in the USA are cheering for this big win, the people in Iran are cheering more for the loss of their government's soccer team.

They should do something similar in baseball for calling balls and strikes.
It is pretty obvious the home plate umpire can effect a game, on a regular basis.

What a night this has been. With both games on at the same time I had to switch between channels to keep up although spent most time watching the Germany game. At one stage it looked like the unthinkable situation that both Germany and Spain would go out. It was hard to keep up with the changing metrics and who needed what to stay in. In the end, despite their win over Costa Rica it was Germany and Costa Rica that lost out due to a fantastic win for Japan over Spain who just creeped through on goal difference.

Goals, disputed decisions, the first female referee in a world cup game, continually changing situations. Sporting drama at its best.

Croatia knocks out Brazil in the QFs in a shootout that never should have happened.
What a blunder by Brazil - after scoring in overtime they get careless and give up the tying goal. That simply cannot happen. Go to a five man back line and lock it up.

Then, to make things worse, their manager sends a 21yr old kid to take the first penalty kick...IN A WORLD CUP QF MATCH....what the heck was he thinking?!?!
The tone was set right there as the Croatian keeper (who is the man of the match after making some great saves) stopped a weak attempt.
Meanwhile, Neymar never gets in the shootout.

Reminds me of England manager Southgate sending a few youngsters (Saka and Sancho) to take PKs in the Euro Final vs Italy. They both missed and Italy won.

Croatia is one tough squad - on to the semis for them.
