My guess is there’s a security issue, but it’s a preposterous rule for a racetrack when so many handicapping products require computer access.

How about IPADs?

I mean even the Vegas casinos allow them now.

jesus...

it's not about 'printing pps'

that's like one slice of one very small solution that still leaves a significant customer base screwed...

let's see for laptops - i'm freaking reading tote information, i have notes (That i'm not printing), pps, timeformUS stuff, watching replays, re-watching comments on shows like Talking Horses, access to googling entries and charts, connections, an opportunity to trip handicap for later in the cards or future days, social media, ok i'm bored of writing a list here now and will stop

i'm sure i did a mediocre list that wasn't all that comprehensive

and i still totally destroyed the stupidity of Belmont banning laptops.

i spent 3 half-assed minutes on a free rant pretty much outside my competence, and I still completely obliterated their stupidity!!

who thought this up? Was it their stewards??, or their new-little-guy-friendly-wagering 'thinktank'?? was it their drug testing crew? was those in charge of carding races? - I could believably see any of those groups making such gaffs, but you think some basic quality control would catch it before it became official.

please tell me this is some really late april fools joke or something WTF are you guys even typing? Is this actually true??

As everyone has said, how can they be this stupid?

But what if it is something as simple as wi-fi resources and Belmont is simply not willing to spend the money to fix the problem?

That's what I think it is - they just don't have the bandwidth for all those laptops.

They don't need public wi-fi ...people can tether off their cell phones...

Maybe their concern......people being hacked

or most likely

Getting money thru THEIR windows.....when I was at Saratoga most of my bets were via my on-line ADW

Actually, they say cell phones and some tablets are allowed, subject to some kind of inspection.

Funny, not mentioned at Aqu or Sar track rules.

So if you’re betting with a laptop, essentially we don’t want your business. Really? I wonder if they’re enforcing this in the VIP rooms?

???

Wonder why the sport is dying-Next rule they will tell you is what color your attire must be---these jerks probably don't know that horses have 4 legs--total disregard for their customers---I used to go to the track religiously every week-Now I won't go near the place(and Belmont is absolutely beautiful)

Fonner Park had this rule for a long time. It was never enforced. They were afraid that people were betting with their ADW while at the track, and it would affect their PP sales.

A cell tower can only service so much bandwidth at once.

In an overcrowded cell, you simply don't get a dial tone, let alone download anything.
