Last time gas was this high the barrel price was at 140.00$.......So, why are we at these high prices now when the barrel price is 108.00$ ??

Good question..

Btw, I went back to 2008 and tried to find some threads bashing Bush for the record-high gas prices. Take a guess what I found? Most of the people here absolving Bush and faulting the democratic-controlled Congress. Stunner, huh?

Of course, that bubble turned out to be speculator driven, right? But this one isn't...

I seem to recall lots of blame going towards supply and demand concerns...you left wingers telling us oil was running out...China was in the midst of serious economic expansion...those were the reasons given, right Dan? Maybe you ought to get your reading glasses, because those are the reasons I spouted (the correct reasons).

In the meantime, ya'll told us the reason oil was so high was because Bush was President and he was getting all his "BIG OIL" buddies rich...

So what's your excuse now? Like Elkabong said, have fun paying for your $4/gallon gas, sucker.

I love how none of the left-leaners on here blame current skyrocketing gas prices on Obama going into Libya with missiles blazing. The man can do no wrong in your eyes...but it was all Bush's fault with his militaristic "regime change" policies in the Middle East. But Obama has Mubarak kicked out of Egypt and starts a mini-war with Libya and all is well...

Enjoy your $4+/gallon gas under Mr. Hope & Change.

Change is all you're gonna have left after you fill the SUV...

You don't see anything wrong with that picture?

British Sterling was the world reserve for 200 years. It was replaced and the dollar is taking the same course. Russia and China are doing trade using their own currencies. Perhaps the new world reserve would be a combination of currencies. Who knows?
One thing is certain, foreign banks exist that won't even accept U.S. dollars anymore. China for the past few years has been dumping dollars, often at a discount to whoever will accept them. Our debt is out of control with no solution in sight. From the outside looking in our financial order must look like a huge mess. With the rising price of gold & silver and inflation almost a given for the future, I'd say the dollar is almost done.

Can't you ever get anything right? The main cause for skyrocketing gas prices is the rise in the cost of crude which is being fueled by speculators. The situation in Libya has exacerbated the problem, but not because Obama has gone in "with missiles blazing."

Here is a brief timeline of the events in Libya.

On Feb. 14 2011 the price of gas in the USA was $3.095

Feb 15, 2011 major protests began in Libya.

Mar. 4, 2011 Rebel forces began military operations and advanced on major cities .

March 7, 2011 Khadaffi responded and counter attacked.

March 14, 2011 gas prices in the USA stood at $3.517, an increase of 42.2 cents/gal over the four week period.

On March 19, 2011 the coalition partners began enforcement of the no fly zone.

Today (actually April 11, 2011) Gas prices in the USA are $3.743 an increase of 22.6 cents/gal over that four week period.

So, yes the situation in Libya has had an effect on gas prices. But the cause of that effect is the destabilization in the country, which occurred independent of any actions by Obama.

Of course, you can argue that had not Obama supported the UN establishment of a No Fly Zone, Khaddaffi would have killed all the rebels and we would have our precious oil again. If you want to argue that, go right ahead. I won't stop you.

Mostie, maybe you could make a postage stamp out of this, so you will understand why gas prices are so high.....

Fergetaboutit.

When we are back to being serfs working on the Obama-class land owner's farms, we won't need any oil or gasoline. And then everything will be wonderful and we'll have saved the environment. Welcome to the Dark Ages.
