In my case, I retired from the military with a secret clearance. I went to work in my area of expertise in the defense industry as a defense contractor aka a civilian. My positions required a secret clearance working on what were designated sensitive programs and projects.
I had to renew it a time or two according to the rules. A clearance was sort of a status symbol and bigger pay for select individuals in the past.
In this case and at his age I don't think it will be a problem for Brennan, although it is a slap in the face for him. Especially being singled out by the president.

It's merely a temporary setback for him.
In the long run, Brennan will benefit from this treatment.

"Need to know" basis.....
Plus, I would assume there (should be) limited clearance to provide "limited" access if that was needed.....

They absolutely should remove everybody's clearances when they're done with employment. If for some reason they would need it later they can have it re-issued and then suspended again when that is done.

General Hayden said this evening that there are 10,000 individuals like him who have security clearances. That's nuts.
They should all be cancelled.
The Govt can issue temporary clearances as necessary for varying lengths of time, such as the one Fred Mertz mentioned above.

I agree with this and the post above it.
I don't really care either way about Brennan's SC. I also learned nothing new about Trump that I didn't already know.
My post was to why people still have SCs after leaving posts. It's not uncommon and not a bad thing.
I'm sure JR never got calls from previous departments or after retirement from colleagues and contemporaries asking him questions...
Same thing.

OR...
Maybe it's not a BFD... unless Trump doesn't like you.

This will seem like paradise now for Brennan, the short time he has left... ...You should know by now, Brennan's days are numbered.....Soon to be headed for Gitmo, as dirty as they come...

That's 1 out every 32,000 people in this country.
Even if we buy this point you're making though that we need to clean up security clearances in this country...
That's not at all what is happening here.

Slap in the face to be singled out by this president? Good one, Fred.
