AARP

My first recollection of knowing I had gotten "beyond young" was when the mail arrived with an envelope from the AARP, and my name was on it.

I was 49 at the time - 53 now. I still don't open them.

Ran my first marathon 18 months ago - will do my third in July.

Old?
Me?
Nah......

Almost a decade ago, Mgt. finally hired some new blood, missing from my/many worksites for a long time.I could see right away the coming trend- that many, many young people were going to get the nod and THEY were going to take over. I decided right away to pick a couple and try to make friends.

It turned out great for me and I believe for them. They are smart, articulate, worldly and yes- they are good looking.

Soooooo... one day I'm on the road. When I return, they both approach me and say that they have a wee question.

" Which event in human history happened first, did you start work with our employer or were we born ? "

I think you can guess the answer...

THAT gave me pause...

i've always been a bull. 1 year ago i really, really hurt all over. could barely move.

mri's followed by cervical spine fusion of 3 vertebrae and complete replacement of my right knee and i'm movin a little better.

i guess 12 yrs. of football and 20 yrs. wrastlin racehorses takes its toll.

When, after getting out of the shower, I looked down and the first thing I could see was my toes.

Even Older When

You no longer have to ask for the senior discount at businesses you patronize that offer it, because the employees that work there give it to you automatically, even ones seeing you for the first time.
