Travis was really good. I think he'll replace Larry once he retires.

I'm curious what was so bad about Larry's weekend specifically. I really haven't listened. Was watching in a sports book (Westgate) this weekend and couldn't really hear. Is it a style thing or actual errors?

It is apparently a style thing.

Collmus was fine. He did something I loved- he got through the entire Derby field before the backstretch.

Wish I would have known you were in the Westgate this weekend. I was there for the Derby, as well. Let me know next time you plan on being in Vegas for Derby or Breeders' Cup.

I saw your product

Will do. Probably Derby next year is most likely. I had a great time this weekend.

Imbriale goes to the other extreme... b-o-r-i-n-g . Travis hits the happy medium,a cool, crisp call. He's great.

Peter Berry (MNR) is my favorite racecaller in the game at the moment...and has been since Durkin left.

It's an absolute travesty that the guy was almost pushed out of the game recently because he couldn't find work.

It's also an absolute travesty he's not calling at a major circuit.

I started out in Brooklyn and most of my relatives lived there. You can tell Imbriale is a native New Yorker after about 10 seconds. You'll see a horse named Southern Law and Imbriale will make it sound like Southern Lore. If he was from the Bronx I could use the Cologio's last line in the movie. Just another Bronx Tale.

I think they both suck, they could not lace up Durkin, Trevor or Dan Loiselle's boots. The dude from Finger Lakes calls a better race or the guy from Fair Ground, Arlington. The back up guy in New York is better than all these guys. The guy from Laurel/Pimlico. Travis is not bad, do not get me wrong. Buddy from Gulfstream Park.. I agree Collmus goes over the top on the big race. His normal calls you can live with..

Thank you so much for the high praise. I'd love to be calling at a major ($$$) track but right now I'd settle for another winter gig. Impossible to make ends meet working 123 days a year. The search continues.

Collmus is a screamer and it's annoying.
I'll take Dave Rodman from the Maryland circuit over almost any race caller.

"Lights out Takarub! "

Dave Rodman is definitely underrated and deserves more props than he usually gets among announcers...

I always think of Durkin as having retired one year too soon.

He, and We, were deprived of his calling American Pharoah's Triple Crown.

(Not that Larry's call was bad)
