Nyra sticking it to bettors..

Gotta call a spade a spade. Taking a race that's part of the P5 sequence off the turf with 2 MTP for Race 1 is pretty unfair to bettors.

NYRA consistently screws horseplayers because no matter how many times they do it, horseplayers keep betting so crapping on their customer must be working.

I think I'm generally positive, but that was complete horse crap what NYRA did with the turf races. Really was a big FU to the players. If I didn't see it I wouldn't believe it.

It is physically impossible for many bettors to change their tickets in time. My entire play was centered around betting against the 6 in race 3 on turf. Race 3 absolutely should be declared an “all” in the pick 5. This is disgraceful and quite probably illegal.

Horseplayers are like Chuck Wepner. We keep taking shots but hang in there anyway.

David Aragona and ITP are right.
I cancelled my multi-race exotics tickets a few seconds after I heard the announcement when the horses were approaching the gate for R1.
Imo, the right thing for NYRA to do would have been giving their on track players a few minutes to re-handicap R3 and submit new multi-race exotics tickets before sending the horses to the gate for R1.
And yeah... I agree with the Chuck Wepner reference.

In the last year at nyra we have… Jakarta getting inadvertently scratched then running for purse money only. 4 horses scratched from vet/lasix error. Smash Ticket getting scratch mid sequence over “workers comp insurance issue” and now todays turf fiasco.
@TheNYRA
figure it out

Whoever is behind the multiple levels of incompetence today has to go. You would think whoever chose the timing of these decisions has never placed a multi-race wager in their life, or just has zero regard for knowing the rules. Speaking of rules, when did it become OK to just make them up as the day goes along? I thought that's why every scenario is covered in the wagering rules to keep situations like this happening. Considering the announcement of the 3rd being off the turf was prior to the 1st race, it is clearly out there that there won't be an ALL situation for this race. That absolutely bites, but that's the rule, end of story.
If this sort of flexibility exists then obviously a better option would've been to announce right after the surface change that the race would be an ALL in the pick 5, that would've been so far & away the fairest thing to do for all bettors.
Are the officials from the BC at Del Mar summering at the Spa??

Declaring it an All race that lomg after the race was a bad move. They should have announced it BEFORE the race was run.

If they were going to make R3 an all in the Pick5... the right thing to do would be to announce it BEFORE R1.

Yep, it was the right decision before R1. It was the right decision before R2. It was the right decision before R3.
After the race, it makes things even worse. Imagine you singled the 7 in R3 and see your potential profit cut by 90% by this decision.
