Don't know if y'all remember this gelding, but in 2016 he won the Dwyer Stakes, placed in the Woody Stephens, and third in the Oklahoma Derby. Then began the long, slow decline through the claiming ranks and lower-tier tracks, finally finishing his career in January this year in Puerto Rico, racing in $4k claiming races. His final record: 63:11-8-7, $679,407.
A lot of people have been monitoring and trying to get this horse retired the last couple of years. Finally, earlier this month, he was purchased from his current owners by Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare, LLC. His new final home will be in Connecticut at Racing for Home, a retirement facility run by Sherrie Courtney, Acacia's mom. Shout out to Christophe Clement Racing Stables for providing assistance with transportation.
Here's FTR, with Sherrie Courtney, arriving at his new digs.
