Trainer Charles Appleby

____________

is trainer Charles Appleby for real______?

he's from overseas - he's had only 7 starts in the U.S.

this year his horses have been in the money 6 of 7 times - 5 times first or 2nd

his record includes only 40 races - he's won 40% of them

so maybe it's just an anomalous thing - I don't know - I don't know much about European trainers and what their records look like

what's your opinion_____________?

He's lead trainer for Godolphin in the UK. He was British Champion Trainer last year. No more needs to be said.

yes, I see that - my bad - I was wrong - he's had more than 7 races in the U.S.

I thought Equibase was counting his European races when they reported only 40 races - but now I see they were only counting his U.S. races

here is his data from Europe which is tremendously impressive if anyone wants to take a look

This thread is a great example of one of the reasons the Breeders Cup is the best horse wagering opportunity of the year.

Because the people that aren't familiar with Charlie Appleby are betting a lot? Because his horses go off as massive overlays?

Kind of silly thing to say, no? You think CRW teams know who Charlie Appleby is? What about some guy that specializes at Hastings Park or Canterbury or even my home circuit of Remington, Fair Meadows, and Will Rogers? You can do just fine gambling on these races without knowing who he is.

He would be a better trainer if he had better jockeys. Some nobody named Lanfranco Dettori rode for him today at Woodbine.
