Innisfree Farm report

Their annual Derby analysis is presaged with a lengthy story of Bill Hartack's rise to and fall from grace. Also included is the lowdown on Mickey "The Snitch"'s demise, quotes from William Faulkner and Bob Dylan, and so much more--eventually gets to his choice (and why) for the Derby.

Check it out.

Inissfree's annual Derby letter is always a fun read. Lots of interesting stories shared over the years. As for the picks themselves, well I chalk it up to paying for the reminisces.

Really enjoyed this read.

Remember Rubbicco when he used to ride at the Fairgrounds in the 80's. Railbirds used to give him quite the hard time.
Liked Hartack on the old ABC Derby broadcasts, teamed him with the insufferable Cosell.
Thanks.

He hit it this year.

You might say he was due...but so was I & that didn’t help me any.

There is due and then there is wandering in the desert. Coming into Sat's contest Innis had picked exactly one winner in the past 15 Derby's (McGaughey's Orb). Your implication that an anonymous posters reply to your original post somehow dissuaded you from realizing the full potential of your original conviction is laughable.

Another good read. Nice back story on Ferdinand.

Think he was the last Derby winner from the 1 hole and until last year with the Lasix rule change, the last Lasix free Derby winner. Surprised he did not pick Mo Donegal in memoriam. Good call on Medina Spirit last year.

Buddy Diliberto (Buddy D) for years was a hilarious sports announcer in New Orleans, hope he cashed on the authors Ferdinand pick.
Thanks.

It's out!

This years edition of Innisfree Farm’s Derby Letter opens with a quote from Hunter S. Thompson, uncloaks two colorful mid-20th century scions influential both the gambling and breeding side of the business, provides a brief bio of each Derby entrant, gives out polo-pony breeder Tim Rice’s picks and there’s much more inside to boot.

As always, it’s a good read…and it’s free.

Cholly says, “Check it out.”
