Trakus at NYRA

Nice feature NYRA has on their Trakus charts - final quarter time for each horse, no matter the distance, always a quarter. You can 't get that from the chart for all distances.

Looking at this, you can see why just looking at last fractions alone can be very deceiving.

NYRA.......valuable information.

The winner and the 6th place horse both had identical 23.03 come home times.
Depends on how far back you are. Winner was actually 3rd best late in this race.

This was actually something we worked on with Trakus, so I am glad you appreciate it. I can't remember the specifics ( I was involved, but you know how getting old is ), but I feel like some customers were asking about it, and it made perfect sense.

There is an added benefit too. For 1 1/2m races like the Belmont and several turf stakes, Trakus has never included (and still doesn't include) the fraction after 1 1/4 miles. Now you can back into it with the information provided. You have to consult the Equibase chart to see which horse was leading at that point but once you know it you can get the correct fraction for that call.

When adjusted for final 1/4 Delta, the order of who came home fastest is maybe quite different.....Replay viewing of race lends yet another perspective, as long as you know where the final quarter in this race actually starts.

Don't think you are getting the delta for the last quarter unless that happens to match the calls for the race. If there is no call 1/4 from the finish, you can give it your best estimate but you won't get it from Trakus.

You're right, as usual....it's my estimation from replay and adjusting Trakus overall Delta for last 1/4..

On dirt most last 1/4s are pretty much run on a straightaway, so upon further reflection the delta should be a small number almost always. On turf you get a little more turn involved so replays will certainly help some.
