Yeah, but there are $3 million reasons to give 9f a try. 😁

I hear you. I’m OK with somewhat lighter campaigns these days, especially with the Breeders Cup being so significant. I remember the days when some top horses would start their campaigns in January and by the time serious year end races came around they were already tailing off. But IMO they have taken it too far with the 2 month gaps and 4-5 race campaigns. I don’t doubt that an occasional horse reacts badly to a really tough race. But I think a lot of purse money and greatness is being left on the table by assuming that every horse needs time after every fast race. We’ll see what they do with this one.

Just guessing.
Sadler is kind of a creature of habit with his top stock.
Another tour de force @ Santa Anita.
He does like Oaklawn,so a race there makes sense.
The Met Mile is logical.
Sadler loves DMR in the Summer.
Finish off with a BC race.

There's a better chance Big Foot shows up at Oaklawn than Flightline.

He did not send a string to Oaklawn this year, so the connection is less than it has been the last two years. (66 starters 2020, 50 starters 2021, 0 this meet - so far.)

The list of Graded Stakes winners Sadler has run @ OP over the years is far too long to list.
And I'm talking his best horses.

And why were they gassed? Here are three hints: 22.01; 44.48, and 1:08.72.

Under, and there is no way he will run as a 5-year-old.

Where do you think he's going to go next? All I've seen are comments from people about all the places he won't be going next (Pegasus, Saudi, Dubai, Oaklawn). I thought the Oaklawn Handicap fits their parameters perfectly for a next start. Sounds like they want to go 2 turns and take their time for the year, and late April would probably be a nice spot if they're staying stateside. For $1 million it's worth the ship, and they probably don't have to knock heads with any real big boys in the division yet in this spot.
If he's going to skip the Pegasus, Saudi Arabia & Dubai then what are they going to do, sit on him for 5 months until the Met Mile? If they're not going to challenge him with one of the big races in the next 3 months then is the whole plan for the year to hope he stays healthy enough to make the Pacific Classic & Breeders Cup & have a 3 race campaign? That'd be pretty sad given what an exciting colt he is.
It's probably the longest of shots, but I'd love it if the thought of the Pegasus started to creep into their minds. If the horse bounces out of today's race looking fresh & a really short field seems apparently, maybe could they be enticed? I think they'll be lured over to Saudi Arabia, but we'll see. Just hoping he stays healthy enough so we can all find out.

Its good to see a clean trainer get a real talented horse for a change instead of Baffert. Refreshing.

Agreed. Just noting that it was an interesting change of direction after two pretty decent years racing "full time" here. I wonder what factors played into it.
I was originally thinking that a possible Oaklawn target might have been the G2 Oaklawn Handicap for $1M on April 22nd, but it seemed having the first race at 2 turns and against older horses going a full 1 1/8 miles wouldn't be a likely path. The G3 Count Fleet the week before is turning back to 6f, which doesn't make a lot of sense either.
What race would you envision them pointing towards with an Oaklawn stop?
The Hronises have enjoyed Oaklawn when they've been here, for sure!
