Apparently many agencies have changed that procedure in light of increasing numbers of mass shootings. What we don't know yet is what the Broward policy is.

Apparently, many agencies still haven't heard: Timing is everything. Or he who hesitates is lost.
When lives are actually on the line the decision must immediately be made: Play it safe for sake of self-preservation or lay it all on the line for the sake of others. Admittedly, not an easy decision. And ultimately, no agency policy can make that snap decision for you, nor can the policy be the correct in all circumstances. Ultimately, regardless of policy, the decision to act or not act resides with those at the scene of the crime.

So what they are saying is one punk kid with a gun requires a SWAT team and mass firepower.
BS.
Those cops need to go work as rent-a-cops.
Or meter maids.

We still have not heard what "amazing leadership" was given to the deputies by the sheriff. If the policy of the department or the specific orders of the sheriff in this case were to wait for more information or for a SWAT team, most of the blame passes from those deputies and goes higher up the food chain.
I am not going to hold my breath waiting for the sheriff to provide more information or explanation.

I think it is the former sheriff of Broward County not too long from now.

More from the Jake Tapper interview:
Quote:
Tapper asked Sheriff Israel, "Do you think that, if the Broward Sheriff's office had done things differently, this shooting might not have happened?"
Astonishingly, Sheriff Israel responded, "Yeah, listen, if ifs and butts were candy and nuts, OJ Simpson would still be in the record books."
Tapper quickly cut him off in a stern yet reasoned tone, saying, "I don't know what that means. There are 17 dead people and there's a whole long list of things your department could've done differently."
"How could- Listen, that's what after action-reports are. That's what lessons learned reports are for. I have entered into conversation with Chuck Wexler, of the Police Executive Research Forum. They will be coming to town to do an independent after-action, lessons-learned report. We understand everything wasn't done perfectly," the sheriff shot back.
Then, Sheriff Israel brought up an entirely irrelevant remark and compared his department to other cities.
"And if it happened in Los Angeles or Chicago, or any other city, every person wouldn't preform perfectly. That's not what happens," as if that somehow excuses the malpractice.

Pretty sure thats why CNN likes him.
Gets you lulled in with really good stuff then sneaks it in. I do have an favorable opinion of him though.

If somebody doesn't like Jake Tapper, there isn't much of anything on CNN that will appeal.
I like him a lot.

I'm surprised CNN is going after the Dem Sheriff so hard. Those kinds of interviews are reserved for Trump supporters...

It would never occur to some that the content isn't quite so fake.
Slanted? Yes.
Must be a market for it, though.

There is nothing on CNN that appeals to me, other than, of course, when they put so-called witness on the air having no idea who it is on the phone.
Like the so-called next door neighbor of OJ, of the cruise ship fire with baba buoy!
CNN has always been and will always be ass-clowns.
Anyone who work for them is, by definition, an ass-clown.
