I'd dare to say that the majority of Americans are stupid enough at this point that they'd politely hand them over, no "taking" required. I mean look at how easy they gave up all their other rights and freedoms over COVID.
Questions of note:
1. What capability does the government have to beat back those unwilling to submit? Easy answer= "lots of capability"

2. How many in law enforcement and military are willing to blindly follow orders?
