You are right, it is not a conspiracy. It is a stated goal of the left, and has always been right out in the open.

You're just jealous because Al knows how to interpret the rates and you don't.
And Al won't tell.

You really must stop with this kind of thing. Once is cute. Twice is mildly irritating.

And the exodus continues.
Quote:
Healthcare insurer Aetna announced Monday that it would reduce its participation in Obamacare by more than two-thirds, after suffering a $200 million loss in the second quarter of this year, a loss caused by too many sick people signing up for President Obama's signature healthcare program.
Aetna said it now operates in 778 counties across the country, but that this would be slashed to just 242 counties in 2017. After leaving the other markets, it will operate in just Delaware, Iowa, Nebraska and Virginia.

Nothing to worry about with rates going up. The administration has it all under control.
Quote:
Pennsylvanians are looking at a 41 percent increase for 2017. In Kentucky, Humana customers will see rates rise 31 percent next year. Blue Cross in Montana seeks a 62 percent increase. Even in Connecticut, deemed one of the great successes of the Affordable Care Act, consumers will likely see rate increases rise more than 20 percent.
...
Aviva Aron-Dine, an economist at the federal Department of Health and Human Services, said predictable factors were behind the upward pressure on rates. For example, the federal government is ending a program that helped pay some of the largest claims incurred by insurers.
In addition, Ms. Aron-Dine said, some insurers may be trying to make up for having initially set premiums too low. In any event, she said, most people buying insurance on the exchanges receive subsidies.
|
In other words, we knew from the beginning that the whole program was a bait and switch scam with artificially low rates, and that it would have to be bailed out by more and more taxpayer subsidies.
Bend over folks, the next step is the public option.

I believe it was Rubio that played a part in ending?/controlling? the subsidies.
This was the basic point I was making all the whole time. It was sold as a free lunch. They lied like crazy to get it passed, but everyone with any economic/business sense knew it was going to involve huge taxpayer bailouts. So ultimately it amounted to some people losing the coverage they liked, others paying more for their coverage, and taxpayers bailing out the rest in order to cover more people.
The idea from day 1 should have been to look for inefficiencies and other possible cost cutting measures and then use those savings to cover more people.

But they have to do that, because most people are too dumb to know what is good for them.
I've heard it here from the libs many times. Before ObamaCare, too many people were buying 'worthless insurance' from unscrupulous companies luring them in with low rates.
And high deductibles.

Part of the promise was that ObamaCare would lead to more efficient provision of health care through better record keeping and better integration of providers and insurers. The former became an expensive regulatory boondoggle. The latter resulted in major consolidation of hospitals and clinics on the one hand and of insurance companies on the other hand. And even to insurance companies buying hospitals and clinics. This has led to a big decrease in competition, and now the administration is fighting further mergers and acquisitions.
