Beulah twins?

Does anyone know what happened to the Beulah Park twin handicappers, Katie and Jenna? Haven't seen them on the simulcast feed this fall.

I thought I saw them behind the McDonald's register down the road from Beulah.

Are there any major golf tournaments around Columbus? That Tiger guy gets around pretty good.

I believe that's how they started, or at least their dad was one. One of the girls lost her husband in a traffic accident a couple years back.

Maybe Beulah didn't want to pay them anymore, since they did have a cult following...I have a bobblehead of the two of them that the track gave away.

The word around Grove City is that at the beginning of the fall meet BEU was forced to cut staff and the twins were given a choice of other positions.

Actually, the BEU handle is up (according to my projections) so things could change? With MTR closing during Jan and Feb the full fields that have made BEU popular should continue.

Also, you may remember the governor proposed and the legislature approved slots for the Ohio tracks. However, opponents filed a case in the Ohio Supreme Court that ruled if the opponents can raise the necessary signatures the issue must go the Nov ballot.

The opponents say they have enough signatures but we won't know for sure until the first week of Feb. If they don't, I think the tracks will get the slots installed in six months.

I know BEU was looking at a temporary building to get up and running and the Grove City sized back a downtown project until it is determined if BEU gets slots as they figure to possibly add a hotel and other buildings.

In related news. Ohio voters approved 4 casinos in the last election. The tracks are to get 3 or 5% of the taxes from the casinos. Casinos are on a fast track in Cincinnati and Cleveland and will be owned by Dan Gilbert who owns the CAVS. Penn National is to build the ones in Toledo and Columbus. The latter is being fought tooth and nail by the Dispatch Printing Company as being evil for downtown Columbus and the end of the world as we know it. Their hip pocket politicians have introduced a senate bill to exempt Franklin County and Columbus from any casino.

Who knows how this all will play out but I think the Ohio tracks will have slots in six months or the worst two years. Cincinnati and Cleveland will have full casino gambling as fast as they can be built.

I am still working in Columbus on a temporary work assignment.....

On BC weekend I walked into Beulah Park and went to buy a voucher. I just randomly went to the first teller stall.

As I looked up at the teller, I blurted out "Are you related to the Beulah Twins"?

It turned out to be Katie!! I did not recognize her because the bleach blonde hair is fading back to her natural brunette color. (She did not look like she had gained alot of weight and was still attractive).

She laughed hard and said "No I AM KATIE one of the Beulah Twins". I asked her what happened. "Beulah Park canned the twins due to budget cuts".

And according to Katie, "Jenna left the state".

One Jessica Pacheco from AP or FG is better than 2 blondes at Beulah! Neither can pick winners very well though...

Considering some of the more portly male analysts employed at some tracks, I find this hard to believe.

The twins should have eaten a little more humble pie than pumpkin pie. Funny how Katie ends up where she started. Charles Ruma and Mike Weiss should be given a lot of credit for their visionary ways. Starting TAB, which turned into winticket.com, which was bought out by twinspires.com, along with their wagering interfaces, has made horseracing and wagering so much more convenient and enjoyable from home.

The idea of two hot blondes giving out picks was pure genious. Even though it was Gary Johnson, part time trainer and handicapper doing the work for them. Beulah now just puts his name on the screen for each races picks. The girls paved the way for Jessica Pacheco, Katie Mikolay, Christina Olivares, etc.
