Arlington Million
Tomorrow is one of my favorite betting days of the year. I've been going to the Arlington Million since 2008.
Here are some random thoughts and horses I'll be looking to play tomorrow.
St Leger
- - - - -
Most likely will pass this race since Da Big Hoss looks really good.
Maybe an action bet on Messi or Billabong.
Friend from Galway says he always loses money on Clondaw Warrior so I'll avoid him.
Secretariat
- - - - -
Tough to look past the favorites Beach Patrol and Long Island Sound.
I'll look for price and a slight upset on Surgical Strike or American Patriot.
I'm ok if Cherry Wine beats me just like his sire did in 2008.
Beverly D
- - - - -
Another tough favorite in Sea Calisi so long as she doesn't get in trouble again.
Faufiler and Coolmore seem like logical horses if Calisi doesn't fire.
I'm staying away from Ballydolye I'm not convinced she can reverse recent form.
Upsetters/underneath exotics I'm looking at Zipessa and Tuttipaesi.
Million
- - - - -
I'm going to try to beat The Pizza Man, Deauville and Tryster. Just not really convinced any of them can get it done.
My main plays will be around Wake Forest, Mondialiste and Decorated Knight.
Maybe looking underneath at World Approval or Kasaqui.
Who does everyone else like?

In the Million, I'll have no problem going against Pizza.
Mondialiste is the class of the field IMO, and the Tryster will be tough. Really tough.
Greengrassofyoming is a really interesting shot.
Crazy to see a G1 10F Turf race in which we could have a fairly quick pace.

#13 Deauville
With all the rain, it might not be a good handicapping day.

The Pizza Man looks primed for another big performance on his favorite track but I can't go that route because I also think Mondialiste after that last one is sitting on a big effort also. Pizza man will be on all exotic tickets. The finishes for Mondialiste at 8f in America last year were fantastic and a 2nd to a peaking Tepin is saying something. This is my focal point horse. World Approval is in peak form and is fast and I think learned 2 back not to go to the front. Dangerous stalking trip. Will also use the 3yo Deauville. Don't think that one has hit his ceiling yet. Wake Forest looks dull to me and on the shorten up I bet doesn't close as fast. Will throw in Take The Stand in case that one goes crazy up front. The Stars and Stripes 1 and 3 finishers had lifetime performances and I am betting they don't make a step forward here which is what I think it will take for them to win here. Will bet light in exotics though because it looks jumbled to me. Betting Mondialiste to win.

So sad. Even when there is a rabbit you can't count on an honest pace, let alone fast.
