I remember thinking it odd that Rich was not at Saratoga this year. He will be sorely missed.

RIP

Such sad, sad news. It makes me pause and realize that these posts I read every day are made by real people, not just nicknames and avatars. And whether I agree with the poster or if they make me angry or laugh, they deserve my respect as they are just like me.

God bless Mr. Richard Bauer and my sincere condolences to his family.

Racing Has Lost A True Passionate Gentleman!!!

Fellow P.A. members,
I had the opportunity to spend an afternoon at Tampa Bay Downs with Rich. We were met by Peter Berube in our clubhouse seats on the finish line.
This was the respect Rich had developed with many prominent people as he displayed his love for the Sport of Racing. As I watched him handicap the races, I could tell he was an excellent handicapper. He had developed his skill over time and sure enough the winners, at a price, were handicapped successfully.
More importantly he was involved with the improvement of racing in general. Many of his intelligent comments were shared on this Pace AdvantageBoard. He truly will be missed!!!
May God Bless Rich and give his family courage in their time of Sorrow!

From reading the posts, it's obvious Rich Bauer was a wonderful person...his face showed a kindness. I feel sad for everyone that knew the man, and my heart goes out to his family.

Sad news

So sorry to hear about Richard passing...I met him for the first time in 2009
when we spent a week at Keeneland and I was impressed with his knowledge
and passion for horse racing..Hope he is capping the races and watching from
the best clubhouse seat in the house...

A sad day indeed

I'm still in shock about this. It was too soon for him.

My condolences to his family and R.I.P. Richard.

He referred to himself as a "Both-hands Bettor" and I know that he was. In all things he held to his convictions and so garnered the respect of many and the ire of a few.
I liked and respected Rich and am deeply saddened that he is gone.

All of us racing fans will cross our own finish line one day. It's then that we will be judged on how we ran the race and not if our noses were first on the line.

May God Bless Rich's family in their time of sorrow. R.I.P Richie, your friends and colleagues will miss you.
