"Whatever happened to Rachel?"
A question posed to me by a family member. Several family members are what you would describe as "casual" fans. Basically my own little focus group. They have no idea that she's running this Sat, or that she's run again since the Preakness for that matter.
I'm not pointing fingers and don't have any brilliant solutions, but it's sad that the industry has not been able to leverage her appeal to any significant degree. She's a big deal to the core fan base and to some casual fans in NY mostly, but that's about it. Not sure what could have been done differently given that the campaign Jackson has designed happens to sidestep national TV coverage.
