Was a huge Tyson fan in my younger days. Watching him make the rise in the ranks with basically all his fights on ESPN as he simply demolished people was hella fun.

Now? We are 35 years later and a guy that hasn't boxed at a high level since the late 90s against some social media bum that hasn't fought anybody worthwhile in his career and they are asking for Pay-Per-View money?

Heck no. While I'd certainly watch it for free, I ain't paying a nickel to watch a 57 year old man hopefully pummel some wannabe punk. Not too mention, these exhibition bouts rarely if ever deliver.

I had no idea this was in the works. I like train wrecks...

Except in this case, I have no idea who is going to get wrecked. Which makes it even more interesting.

I cannot believe people pay to watch this garbage. I never liked Tyson and threw a beer on my sister in elation watching the fight at my parent's house when Buster Douglas knocked him down and gave him his first defeat. I just jumped up in excitement forgetting about the beer stein in my hand. That damn near rivaled the excitement I had when the USA beat the Soviets in hockey at the 1980 Winter Olympics, for sporting events I did not bet a dime one. In spite of that, now that Tyson has mellowed in his old age and is medicated for a mental illness that was not diagnosed in his youth, I wish he would not fight as no one at his age should be boxing. The whole things reeks as far as I am concerned.

Did you see those clips of him training...

My God...for a 57 year old ...he looks still in great shape...

And those punches still make me cringe....

Wouldn't it be nice for another one of his 1ST Round KO's

Ha. Just looked it up.

Fight is gonna be on Netflix (of all places).

And the current betting line is Paul -150, Tyson +115 after Paul opened as a -500 favorite.

Sooooo...., I guess I'll likely be watching it afterall.

He has been hit in the head too many time to count and the 57 year old brain cannot tolerate abuse like a 35 year old or younger one can. He might be able to land some bombs as power is the last to go. I am sure his hand speed and reflexes are slowed considerably, also his endurance was even suspect in his prime. Mike even has a short reach for someone his height. He is fighting a very inexperienced opponent who has only fought 2 real boxers. I guess that makes it a pretty even match.

Nose bleed seats are going for $200 a piece, are you kidding me? This fight will probably be about as good as 1980's-90's Tuesday Night Fights on USA Network, where often the fights had both competitors with losing records.
It is crazy how you can make bank these days because of internet exposure.
A guy like Jake Paul is probably no more skilled than guys who fought at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles on club fighter nights without any headliners. Back when tickets for general admission adjusted for inflation where around $25 in today's money whether you went in 1927 or 1987 and the guys were fighting for a couple hundred dollars at the most.

I think Paul is better than you think as a boxer...and he also has quite the following as he's been on YouTube since 2014 and has been one of the highest paid people on YouTube a bunch of times.

He has over 20M subscribers to his channel...so he has a TON of name recognition especially among the younger folks out there.

And of course, everyone knows Mike Tyson.

So, it's not just internet exposure.

You have got to be kidding me.
Check out the record of the guy who beat him.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Fury

I am so out of touch, Tommy Fury beat a guy who was 0-26-2, 2-26, 0-12,
back in the pre internet days guys with records like that would have long since hung up the gloves. I guess now people will click on channels where guys get their asses kicked. In the pre internet days like on Tuesday Night Fights on USA Network that covered club fights they would often have guys under .500 that had a lot of fights, but they were like 23-27, 12-15, nothing like what Tommy Fury fought.

I had to sit at a desk a lot today and I split the screen watching Jake Paul fights as the internet did ok at 480P resolution today. The guy stinks at boxing, his footwork is abysmal, he has no jab, he does a lot of off balance lunging, he throws hooks that are borderline windmill punches. Against a Mike Tyson in his prime he would last 20 seconds max, and that includes the 10 count.

I just watched a couple of videos of Pauls fights because I never head of the guy. The guy really cannot box IMO. He drops his left after jabbing. He is mostly out of position to counter effectively due to poor foot work. He is wide open to counter rights and he throws a ridiculous right uppercut. He throws that against a real boxer with a punch and a left hook will take him out. In an extended exchange a good boxer can time Pauls punches while punching with him and nail him in between Pauls punches. The question is, of course, Tysons age and we know that his reflexes are mostly gone. It is very hard to beat Father Time so it is question IMO. Tyson would have destroyed this guy at any time in his boxing career and I was never a Tyson fan. I would not pay to see this.

It is freaking hilarious how the announcers try to hype Paul up, it seems everybody will sell their professionalism and pride away for the almighty dollar.
In spite of Tyson's age which means he probably has 50% or so of his power and his reflexes are shot, 50% of a vintage Mike Tyson will hit harder than 100% of Jake Paul. Also Paul's terrible boxing style will not make quick reflexes necessary as a lot of his punches are borderline wind mill style.
If this a a real fight with no BS Mike Tyson should beat Paul just off of instincts. I watched all are parts of all the Paul fights available, the guy is consistently bad and shows no improvement. It could be because he has not had to or is not being trained well. It also could be he does not take to instruction. I used to teach friends how to box, some just don't grasp it.
The funny thing the one who picked it up the fastest was a female ex college softball player.
