Saratoga is destroying Del Mar on handle,

Saratoga is destroying Del Mar on handle,

I just look at the pools, Saratoga is killing Del Mar,

Will they ever catch up?

Any comments.

it's not even august yet when the saratoga meet does best and they've had 2 brutal weather days on track.

all i hear about del mar is the beach and the weather. what about the racing?

today, saratoga had 5 maiden races, a 5 horse feature and a claiming race for a saturday. that will improve. what then ?

As you know Andy, we want better racing, however, what does it cost to have a horse here and there at Saratoga, miles apart, cost of training and costs of buying one has to come down here.

Also , HP, Santa Anita , and Del Mar MUST have the same surface, I am sick and tired of going to school on each track and watching the stress on the horses running.

Dirt for all. Grass for all, hell, Beer for all

Until this happens, we will see little change.

DMR would handle much more if they had dirt.

Think the takeout and small fields have more to do with it than the track surface

I think the east coast horseplayer has grown very wary of polytrack and is no longer betting as much on California.
I also think having 3 differnt surfaces at SA, Hol and DMR has turned away a segment of the out of town players.

The takeout was raised because of the small fields and the small fields happened because dirt went away. Track management wanted to bring plastic to 'prevent injuries' and guess what happened? The horseplayer ended up paying for 'increased safety' for horses not owned by them.

I'll play DMR if they go back to dirt.
