And EmD did not even mention that EmD now has a casino. An Indian casino no less. I wonder if this change will have a good impact on the racing, or whether it will result in the same ambivalence about racing that we have seen with other racinos.

Born and raised in Puyallup. Darn near grew up at Longacres with my father. Love the EMD season. Went to school with the Hoonan's. Father was my football coach, Mother was my journalist class teacher. I have to get back, some day. Very fond memories

Yeah, I wasn't too excited about the casino but it's only on the 5th floor. 21 tables or something like that.
Something tells me the love for horse racing and passion you see there won't be impacted by it.

Look me up if you do. I live in Auburn near Lake Tapps. I promise you that you would not recognize Puyallup or Auburn. The Hoonan's are extremely nice people. It has been a struggle for Debbie with her many injuries.

I sure hope not. I have heard too many stories about people's backs turned to the track while races are running, track conditions becoming an afterthought, etc. The nice thing about that casino is that it is smoke free!
I doubt that I will go out tonight as it will be too crowded because of the post races fireworks show, but I will probably go to the races tomorrow. Good luck with your bets!

Probably needed the race and poor record at the track w/ only 10% of lifetime earnings at EMD. I only handicapped into the results but this one looked overbet. Like a WIN ALL except but the race had been run, so fwiw.

On my annual trip to the Prineville, OR (Crooked River Roundup) races in mid-July which run from a Wednesday thru Saturday, I usually extend my trip by one day to drive up to EmD on Sunday. The track is typically very-well attended, so arriving even 30-45 minutes prior to the 1st post means parking far away and about a 15-20 minute walk to the track entrance. The past few years they had food trucks on Sunday, which were a nice addition.
About a year or two ago I heard word that EmD was considering some support to help some of the class C tracks in the Blue Mountain area resume racing, because it would help racing in the state of Washington. Not sure if there is still any interest, but I would love to go back if racing were to ever resume.
For those who have never heard of the Blue Mountain racing circuit, it consisted of Sun Downs (still runs 6 days a year), and tracks Walla Walla, Waitsburg, and Dayton, which have been dormant now for about 5-6 years.
