Is there a separate audio mix for HD? My HD feed definitely had a lot of the track announcer feed. Were you watching in HD?

I didn't have a problem here on NBC. I could hear a light mumbling that I assume was Johnson, but Collmus was clear.

I understand what you are saying... it was annoying with the background noise between the track announcer and the wind blowing. I had my volume so cranked up I was able to hear the whole call though but i do understand where you are coming from. That is a shame

There was definitely somehow 2 feeds or something.. The race that i watched on NBC HD was absolutely 1000000% inaudible. It was awful. I watched it about 6 times now and absolutely no idea who was running in the race if you didn't know the horse by numbers. Not exaggerating. After the race i tried to get the horses number and was saying, I think its Soldat (thought i saw 17)

I also watched on NBC HD and it was fine. Maybe it was something with local stations?

I had the same situation as Zippy. Could not hear the call clearly at all and had no idea who had won. After the race, I wished I hadn't found out.

Here is the NBC replay for those interested:
http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/228251...44611#42944611
I see what you guys mean, but it wasn't close to that bad on my TV. I just watched again on DVR, not even remotely that bad.

I just watched it with surround sound and without. Without the surround sound it was pretty bad. With it, there were no problems.

Thanks cj. Collmus' call was definitely clearer than what I heard live on NBC-HD. In fact, Collmus gave a nice accurate call.

Crap I thought it was my NBC affiliate, because the sound sometimes is screwy.
The guy in charge of sound should be fired. That was terrible.
I watched the replay, the call was rock solid...Good job by Larry.

I wish i heard that version! Im dying to find out what the problem was. Like my original post said it was just as bad on the previous race. All you could hear is Johnson. Brutal. I was shocked when i came in this thread after and it wasn't filled w/ all complaints. I dont know what the problem was.

That is odd. definitely must have been another feed. I was on HD from a local cable company watching at someones house. I also DVRed it at home from Dish Network in HD and checked when I returned. I am still able to hear everything clearly even though there is the distraction of the track announcer and wind. That really sucks though...sorry you had such a horrible derby call. I would have been very frustrated with that to.
