The guys named above were so much better than the NFL "journeyman QB" of today. No wonder the games were so much more exciting in the 70's. These guys were quite capable of keeping their teams in the game - no how bad their teammates were!

**** equals better than a journeyman of today. In some cases a lot better.
Everyone else would be a journeyman today, if that.

Every QB on that list was the starting QB for their team between 1970 and 1973. Of course, most were in varying stages of their career.

He's pretty good....i wish he wouldnt have rushed that final drive, the bomb to the end zone was a bad gamble, you dont want to score with a minute 45 remaining and give Brady time....at 2nd and 5 you gotta pound the rock, run that clock down and take your shots at the end....and either YOU win or you lose, but you dont give that guy ANY time to come back, because he will.

In the post game when asked about scoring there and giving Brady the ball back Flacco said the pats were a defense he had seen before and he took his shot and wasn't concerned about Brady.

Not concerned about Brady??? Understandable from his Baltimore offensive side of the game view, but as far as an overall grasp of the game situation, that sounds pretty naive from his perspective.

I agree. Its a lot more important than he thinks. But, then again, if he says he's worried about Brady, he has no defense for throwing that ball with a minute and a half in the game.

I didn't think it was a bad call. The Ravens throw long, that's the way they play, they're aggressive. Their (Kubiak) play calling was superb all game. On that interception, his receiver was several yards ahead of the cornerback, he had him beat, but the safety read the play well and crossed over quickly for the interception.
The bottom line is, the Patriots are the best organization in the NFL and their coaching staff is in another hemisphere. They rarely have the best personal in the league or even in their division but they always end up in the playoffs. It's amazing. They don't have a legitimate starting NFL wide receiver, their running game is inconsistent and they don't have a top running back, they have no pass rush, and it doesn't matter, they just win. And it's not just Brady. When Brady was injured years ago they won 9 games with a second string QB.
What the Patriots have accomplished during the Belichick era is astonishing. Some years they start the season with a horrible defense with rookies and cast offs that were cut from other teams and by the second half of the season they're shutting teams down in the 4th quarters.

Flacco is good.
He's not elite, and he's not in a system designed to harness elite passing, but he does a good job. He's a class act.

While in and of itself it might not be a bad call, in the context of game management, it wasn't the right thing to do. You have 2nd and 5, they were given a gift free 5 yards, there's no reason to not just run the ball on 2nd down and burn some clock. There's no real reason to rush the ball to the endzone there, put together a sustained drive and work the clock.

It's 50% strong team culture, and 50% incompetence by the Jets, Bills, and Dolphins. In any other division the Pats would struggle for a playoff ticket.

The Pats get huge credit for finding a way to never have a down season, no matter who the players were in the uniforms, no matter how many injuries they had either. You are right that the Jets, Bills and Dolphins essentially set up New England for an easy division title every year. Ask yourself this question. If the Pats had to play Pitt and Balto 2 times every year, would they have been able to deal with the physical nature of 4 contests vs those brute teams and still be where they are, absolutely not..so, their placement in that division is a HUGE contributor to their "greatness".
If they were in ANY other division, their legacy would be completely different.

One thing about Flacco, he has one of the best arms in the history of the sport and therefore he can make throws that other quarterbacks just can't, and that is something special and it certainly helps his team.

You sound like me. They should of run a couple times or some short stuff, that was a premature risk. Plus, New England showed two major weaknesses yesterday....they could not stop the run.......so you keep running and they couldn't run for shit either. That will get you beat against a better team. The Patriots won but they need some adjustments or they will get beat in one of the next two games. That was a poor play to call at that point in the game when you ran down their throat for 58 minutes.
