Funny the timing as to when some people start worrying about the debt clock...lulz

Republicans worry when there is a Dem president and Dems worry when there is a Repub president...always...and without fail.

For you see, barn32 never posted about the debt clock when Obama was president, racking up a WHOLE LOTTA debt...

Like I said, funny.

Although I can't prove it (search feature wouldn't allow it), to the best of my recollection, and other than election threads, Barn32 never once posted about Obama in Off Topic/General/Politics for the entire eight years he was president.

OK, now I get it. You think because I posted a statistical based post about the national debt that it was a dig at Trump. I guess that's why you and your compadres have hundreds of rep power points. Red meat for the base. Skeleton in every closet. Enemy under every bed.

Yes the debt is going up under Trump. It went up under Obama and Bush. It tripled under Reagan. The whole point of my statistical post, subtle as it was, is that even with a balanced budget amendment it would be (almost) impossible to erase deficit spending in order to cover the six items that's can't be touched. We're ****ed no matter who is president.

My post wasn't political. It was statistical. Observational. Keep trying to paint things to fit your narrative.

The highest GDP to National Debt ratio we have ever had was during World War 2 at 122%. It's 105% now. No big deal. Should have also mentioned that.

In 1954 the national debt was 184 billion dollars under Eisenhower. Peanuts. Should have mentioned him also.

And last but certainly not least, I also didn't mention Andrew Jackson. He was president in 1835, the only time in US History that we never had a national debt and for a short period of time even had a "national" surplus. But it didn't last very long.

More statistics. Spin it how you will.

I don't think you posted it "as a dig at Trump."

Read what I wrote again. You might even agree with me if you didn't view every post of mine in an adversarial manner.

As PA Mike said, the 'national debt' is usually only an issue when (1) Congress and the Presidency are from different parties, and, (2) usually in the few states where the Congressional races have a 'national debt' focus.

Mostly, the debt issue is raised by phony Republicans who do nothing about the national debt except when they increase the debt by not cutting the spending as promised, or, usually --horrors-- actually increase spending!

The 'National debt' is a phony issue anyway so why do people discuss it -- well, see my above post and by others for the quick and dirty answers.

Why is the national debt a phony issue, you may ask.

Our country is now run by stupid, feckless, cowards that we elect!

And we've also become a country of soft, ill-educated, weak, stupid and disinterested electorate.

This government, regardless of the party in power, will never default on any obligations and entitlements, despite the warnings, cries and threats to the contrary.

I will feel much better for the future of this country if/when the "national debt" becomes a non-partisan issue.
