Pens fans and Jets fans feel that the Calder should have gone to Laine or Murray, and that there is some kind of NHL controversy? Really? Of 167 first place votes… Matthews received 164. The other 3 went to Laine. None went to Murray or Werenski. Do they honestly believe that the NHL has a hardon for the Leafs that the voting was THAT skewed? Please.
NHL All-Rookie Team:
Laine – Matthews – Marner
Weresnki – Skjei
Murray

On most nights Connor played as if he was from a planet called Quantum Leap.
He was that much better than anyone in the league and made it impossible for the Eastern bias to prevail.
Wayne Gretzky was a better scorer and he played here too, but Connor is the most exciting playerr that I've seen since Bobby Orr.

I can't argue with any of that, i just shake my head when i watch him play, must be the Toronto water.
Did you catch that sour-puss look on Crosby's face when he won, priceless!

I agree that Connor should have won. It is exciting to watch and haven't seen anyone like him in a long time. There a bunch of good young kids in the league right now. Crosby wasn't to happy when he didn't win, too bad.

With the Canes acquiring TVR they are stacked on the blue line. Maybe JVR joins his brother?

TVR is a 3rd pairing D-man, one of those guys that will float around the league.
Something has to give with JVR and Bozy this season, trade them or sign them.
They released the schedule today, and the Leafs are in Vegas on New Year’s Eve, something to think about if you’re looking for a trip.

Mark Hunter hope you slept well. Big day today. I have no idea what the Leafs will do today. Stay put, move down again. Best player available, defense-man? In Hunter I trust. I know Hoofed likes Foote, that's fine with me. Great pedigree. The puzzle that is Klim Kostin will be solved today. i'm guessing Red Wings first round.

Unbeknownst to the public, Rutherford had worked out a deal with Las Vegas at the trading deadline, enabling the Penguins to keep Fleury through the end of the season.
The deal may have been the best Rutherford has made as Penguins general manager. It’s incredible he was able to get Las Vegas to agree to take Fleury — not Murray — in exchange for only a 2020 second-round pick. The deal also ensured the Penguins wouldn’t lose any of their key players to the Golden Knights, and it freed up cap room over the next two seasons."

He's a solid 3-4 defenceman.
My only concern is the 4 year term...and no trade in years 3 and 4.

I agree, this deal screams "buyout" in a couple of years.
I think he is slightly overpaid as well, paying him $4 mill (average value) for a shot-blocker is a little excessive, he doesn't bring much else to the table offensively or defensively.
I hope for your sake that it works out.

Russell is a decent player but I agree with Fox and Hoofed, the term is scary.
