Women's US Open Tennis Final
What a catastrophe...sad to see the match take a turn like that.
Osaka upsets Serena in a match that will be talked about for a long time.

Serena was a poor sport. This is supposed to be a role model for millions of girls?
Even the coach admitted afterwards he was coaching her during the match.

For me it is a pass. That lady, IMO, is one of the top 3 greatest sports stars of all time. And, despite the mental breakdown, is a great role model.

She looked like a pathetic cry baby to me.
The winner was much more of who I would want to be a role
model.
Pressure brings out your true character.
OR lack of it.

I agree with Tom...the woman is a pathetic crybaby. "Pathetic" is the perfect word to describe a crybaby with so much talent, and success.

Made it difficult for the young girl to celebrate her first victory with Serena taking center stage being a brat. This wasn't the first time Serena had a temper tantrum in losing a match.

The logic of Serena and others defending Serena is disturbing.
"Well the men have done worse and didn't get called on it."
First of all, what are those specific instances?
And even if the part was true, do two wrongs make a right? If the men do something that breaks the rules, I guess that makes it right then?
Why not just give Serena every advantage then. Let her skirt every rule because she's the "star" player and they wanted to see her win.
Pathetic.

I watch a lot of tennis and I can't remember the last time I've seen a man act that way. Any man, not just a leader in the sport. But as a role model in the game, would Roger ever act that way? Any of the big 4?

The best players in any sport are going to get their share of questionable calls.
The true champion finds a way to rise above it.
Imo, Serena pretty much did the opposite.

Mac was disqualified from a match entirely one time. Nidal has received much more severe penalties than Serena. If anything, the women have been treated a whole lot better. The Williams sisters are just spoiled brats used to winning and getting their way. Surprising she hasn't made race an excuse.
Any other tennis player would have likely been disqualified for the amount of delay of play she caused. In effect, her actions made her opponent the rel victim, not the umpire. She robbed her of the spotlight in winning.

When a tennis player loses 6-2 6-4, it wasn't the "thief" umpire who took the match away from him/her. Serena's constant whining took away from the credit that the 20-year-old winner deserved...and also led to the totally inappropriate booing of the crowd during the award ceremony. Equally inappropriate were the opening trophy presentation remarks of Katrina Adams...who chose to call Serena a "great role model" at the worst possible moment. "Perhaps this wasn't the outcome that we were looking for", Adams said...a comment which she should have known would only further incite the already angry crowd.
