RACE 8----CLM 16k – 5.5F DIRT

2 GOODHUMORGIRL 6-1
10 MONSTRO NESS 9-2
4 SHARED IMAGE 6-1
9 PEPPY BOLLY 6-1

#2 GOODHUMORGIRL has a lot of speed, as do many others here. She was able to rate three back and also in her maiden win. Faced better in last. 5th place finisher, Pay the Debt, ran 2nd at this level coming back. Works are average for Bonde who can work them quickly. Like to see Maldonado stay. Should like the company.

#10 MONSTRO NESS
can clearly win this easily if she is right. However, she has been off since March and takes a big drop in class after just 1 try for the connections that claimed her two starts back. Pender is 3 for 8 at Santa Anita w/ big class droppers. This one has had big gaps in works. Use defensively but not reliable here.

RACE 9 MSW 56k – 6.5F DIRT

12 GIMME DA LUTE 5-2 Garcia
4 HOWDY 3-1 Solis
2 OVERCOMER 15-1 Maldonado
5 CHUTNEY 8-1 Stevens

#12 GIMME DA LUTE was nosed out by a 4-5 Sadler 1st timer who sold for 560k and was everyone’s hot pick. This Cal-bred was w/ open class in last and now in with Cal-breds. Clockers stated he was in 4 team move last, was best in a sharp move w/ Garcia up.

#4 HOWDY is a very logical player after back to back sharp efforts vs similar company. 5th beaten 20 lengths in last came back to win vs mdn clm 50k company here at 7-2 (57 Beyer). The winner had run well coming into that. Certainly a player. Likely underneath.

2-22-15 - SANTA ANITA
RACE 9 - MDN CLM 30k – 1M 1/16 DIRT (4:39 PST)

9 BOSSMON 5-2
4 YOKED 12-1
6 BOREALIS BREEZE 7-2
8 CAPTAIN G 3-1

#9 BOSSMON ships in from GG. Trainer is 4 for 8 at Santa Anita (all 4 wins were by stakes winner Alert Bay). Winner in 2nd start came back to win the 75k Gold Rush in his next start and was 3rd in the 100k Cal Derby. Dirt is the question.

#4 YOKED dropped to this level in last and beat most of the field when a well-beaten 5th. Faced much better in first two starts. New, aggressive rider. 6F move since last. Playable.

R1 CLM 12k
7F DIRT (1:00 PT)
6 MATZOH BALL MAGIC 5-2
7 LOLO EL CANONERO 9-2
1 CASUAL ATTIRE 2-1
5 RUSTY ROAD 7-2

#6 MATZOH BALL MAGIC made a late move to get up for 2nd at 9-2 in last. He was wide & right with Hidden Zensation in early stretch. He clearly outran that one. Consistent type got a big name rider in last and fire. Another main rider gets aboard here. 7F distance will help. His only win came at this 7F distance.

#7 LOLO EL CANONERO may have been a bit overvalued for the first 10 races. Dropped & ran 2nd at this level at this distance two back. He made an early move in the same race the top choice was 2nd in. He was a game 4th. He should get a nice trip from the outside post.

RACE 1 MSW 56k – 1M 1/8 TURF (12:30 PST)

3 BLUE LAW 5-2 Desormeaux
1 ROCKIN ROBIN 3-1 Baze
8 MILTEE 12-1 Gutierrez
10 MILTON 9-2 Nakatani

#3 BLUE LAW was very good when 2nd in a strong MSW last out. Not surprising that he came alive on the grass. Dam is a half to $2M G1 turf winner, Silver Max. This one was in early traffic, steadied, finished strong. Excellent drills since.

#1 ROCKIN ROBIN was 2nd to Metaboss in the MSW 2 back at 24-1. Metaboss came back to win the El Camino Real at GG. 6th came back to win a MSW. Baze is back up today.

3-1-15

RACE 9 MDN CLM 20k – 5.5F DIRT (4:39 PST)

8 DESERT GEM 5-1 Van Dyke
3 GNARLY HARLY 2-1 Garcia
7 SKY HEART 5-2 Talamo
11 WOODY’S FOLLY 6-1 Maldonado

#8 DESERT GEM was closing well for 4th beaten just two in the common race on 2-6. He got a good trip and started to accelerate when turning for home. Hofmans is 0 for 36 with long layoffs but 14% with second off a break. More speed.

#3 GNARLY HARLY was claimed by top connections. He ran poorly in last as the favorite. He was in tight early, rushed up, eased. Nice worktab, well-spaced. Expect improvement.

3-2-15 SAM HOUSTON
(Full card analysis for both HOU and TUP available for Monday, 3-2-15, at the link in the signature)

R3 CLM 10k
6F DIRT

5 JANES SHIP 2-1
4 FLATTERMEKATE 4-1
1 LEGACY FLYER 6-1
2 BLACK LACE MOJO 6-1

#5 JANES SHIP is exiting key races at the straight 7500 clm level. In fact, this could be a drop in class going to NW4L level. Two next out winners from her last start (3rd and 7th both came back to win). 5th came back to run 2nd in an alw next. Ran with much better at RP. Won three back with this rider up. Was in traffic a bit 2 back. She fits well with these.

3-3-15 (FREE full card Sam Houston analysis for Tuesday at website in signature below).

R3 MSW 20k 6F DIRT
2 HYDE AND GO 2-1

1 HOOKED ON TRACK 3-1
3 DUSTIN E 6-1
7 SACRED CROWN 4-1

#2 HYDE AND GO is a first timer for Danny Pish. Pish has sent out 7 first timers at this meet. He has 4 wins and 2 runner-up finishes. The works for those runners were the same, if not slower, than what we see with this one. None of his 1st timers went off favored due to the slow works. Should be live today.

#1 HOOKED ON TRACK has shown good speed in both starts. Hung in well for 2nd vs some of these in his last start. Was drawn wide in the 1st two. Will save ground from rail.

3-5-15

R6 OPT CLM 50k
6F DIRT
6 GRAZEN SKY 9-5

8 KLUSZEWSKI 4-1
2 GUY CODE 3-1
7 CARDIAC 8-1

#6 GRAZEN SKY put it together so well in the maiden win off the bench in last. He easily beat that field with something left. That time was 1/5 faster than Spirit Rules ran to win the Cal Cup Sprint later in that card. Bejarano had options but lands here.

#8 KLUSZEWSKI beat the top choice three back when he re-bid to get the win. Note Bejarano was on this one but moves over to the top pick. A couple of show finishes in the state-bred stakes races. Will be a lot of speed to set up his late run in the lane.

RACE 4 CLM 8k – 6F DIRT (2:27 PST
)
5 FROM HERE TO THERE 10-1
10 RED N BLACK ATTACK 5-1
8 TRAWEEK 3-1
9 OLD MAN LAKE 8-1

#5 FROM HERE TO THERE
has run 5 very good races in a row. He hasn’t been bet in the last 3 but has outrun his odds. In the 12 post in last, Nextdoorneighbor was 6th. Pace will be fast and he should be rolling in the lane. Very playable shot.

#10 RED AND BLACK ATTACK
was closing at 9-1 in the common race on 2-6. He is 4 for 8 in the exacta on the Santa Anita dirt course. Winner two back returned to win at 16k. 5th by 12 came back to win at 12,500 at GG at 7-1. Nice drill since.

Full card analysis for Tampa Bay, Santa Anita and the Top 10 Best Bets of the Day are available at the link in the signature below.

R1 CLAIMING 16,000
5 TIZ FUTURITY 8-1

2 AMERICAN ACT 5-2
9 SHEER TALENT 3-1
4 TAKE A RISK 12-1

#5 TIZ FUTURITY lost his reins in last and eased. Was claimed out of a poor effort two back. Prior to that, he had run three of his best races in his career & all coming at the longer sprint distances. Pender could have dropped him to 8k but keeps at 16k, has fast bullet work since.

#2 AMERICAN ACT ran 2nd in last start as the 5-2 choice. He took the lead but was caught by a longshot late. He got into major traffic two back and lost all chance. Will find himself in a great spot early. Might have lost the will to win. Not on top.

RACE 6 MSW 56k – 6F DIRT (2:57 PST)

7 PARTICLEACELERATOR 4-1 Perez
4 ROCKO’S WHEEL 5-2 Talamo
1 STORMIN TRICK 4-1 Baze
8 PAY THE FINE 8-1 Trujillo

#7 PARTICLEACELERATOR is a 1st timer for Warren who is 3 for 6 w/ 1sters in MSW at SA incl. Acceptance, who won by 13 in debut. Working exceptionally well. Dam is a half to $2M turf (5x G1 winner), Acclamation. Tab tote.

#4 ROCKO’S WHEEL took action in the debut with Smith up but was only able to pass tired foes late. Winner has won stakes since. Working well w/ Talamo up in the AM.

R4---CLM 16k – 1M DIRT
6 BLUEGRASS REWARD 2-1
4 MY JEALOUS 5-2
1 HALF STRIKE 5-1
3 BROADWAY NIKA 9-5

#6 BLUEGRASS REWARD was claimed out of his last race for 20k. He is dropped for this for a trainer who has claimed just one and dropped….and it was a win 3 yrs ago. Traffic along the rail 2, 3 back. Veteran rider got up and he guided him home. Dirt record is impeccable. A game 7YO gelding.

#4 MY JEALOUS was right behind the top choice two back and then was much the best on the drop last out. Didn’t face much in that race but loved how he recovered from a shuffle early to just cruise by. He is back to the level he belongs, can win this.

3-13-15

R1 MDN CLM 75k – 6F DIRT

2 MY OLD BUD 5-2

1 DOMINGO CAT 5-2
5 PERFECTLY MAJESTIC 2-1
6 BLUE ANCHOR 4-1

#2 MY OLD BUD had a horrendous trip in his debut. He was steadied and shuffled in key spots twice in the race. Once clear, he grinded away for 4th only 1 1/2 behind the winner. Machowsky has 3 wins in his last 7 with second time starters. One winner was ridden by Perez, as well. Looks tough.

#1 DOMINGO CAT had just one race and it was as a two-year old back in Aug. He got into second turning for home but was just outfinished. Rider lost his whip in the last furlong. Show finisher came back to win a MSW at GG, then 3rd in 101k Zuma Beach.

RACE 9 MDN CLM 75k – 1M TURF (4:39 PST)

7 OUI BEAR 15-1 Pereira
10 ZIP N BAYOU 4-1 Nakatani
6 SHOW STEALER 8-1 Stevens
12 PAULINA’S LOVE 7-2 Smith

#7 OUI BEAR claimed in last by Sadler for 75k. Sadler is 3 for 3 in the last year with 1st off the claim, routing on turf. One winner, for this owner, was 2-28 in a MSW with Pereira at 21-1 (off a layoff with similar works). Bred very well for the grass and is the main reason he was claimed by Sadler. Upset.

#10 ZIP N BAYOU is out of a dam that earned just short of a million dollars on the grass. She was a G1 winner & all her races were long. Top call rider takes over in here.
