IDK.

One of the dirty little secrets of poker is how much of what "the great" players earn is a product of luck and rungood. I mean, Ivey can certainly get himself into some number of games with wealthy whales, but the actual EV of those games is a lot lower than you might think (sometimes the whales run good!).

Before Black Friday, the big name poker players were making a ton of money from their associations with online poker sites. That money is gone. And of course, Ivey's remaining endorsement money is also called into question after his being involved in this scheme and losing his court cases. (Not that this money was a large sum anyway- one reason Ivey might have been attracted to cheating at baccarat is precisely that he wasn't making a lot of money post-BF from endorsements.)

So Ivey is looking at a situation where it actually might take 10 years or more to make back the money he owes to these casinos.

How? Bobby Baldwin has a stranglehold on all those games, and they (he) doesn't want players of Ivey's caliber.

Even Doyle can't get in those games.

There are plenty of people who I know from my law practice who would love to play in a poker game with Phil Ivey. It's a big thrill for a certain type of rich person who likes poker.

Yeah. He's retired from multi-day tournaments, because it's so much of a grind and he's very old, but every time I go to Las Vegas I see him there at the Bellagio wearing his trademark hat.
