Google Drive Help

Not sure if this is the correct forum to put it in but it’s the closest one to my question I have.

I am using a Google Drive account for school but I also have a backup account for out of school. My question is if I share ALL my files to my personal account and then my school account would be deleted, would my files be safe or do I have to put my files on a USB?

I have lots of school stuff back from when I was in Grade 7 plus other no related school stuff (horse racing, sports picks, weather spreadsheets) and would like to keep the files if I can. Can someone tell me if this will be safe on my personal account.

Thank you and I have less than 1 month before my school one shuts down.

If it was money, would you skip the hard copy on usb or external media?

Btw, it is money. Time, effort, probably hours and hours of time n effort.

I never trust “the cloud”

If it’s important. Make your own local copies.

Just my opine........///

Depending on the size. I put my important stuff on CD and USB, and an external hard-drive. Think fire, flood etc. off premise storage is a good idea too.

Google drive is in the cloud. Its not actually on your machine.

Go to your school account in google drive and grant access to your personal email with full read-write permission. When you invite someone to your google drive files it offers permission levels. Simply invite yourself to your school account.

Thats one reason people/companies like it, because multiple people can work on the file at the same time. Because its cloud based.

Can’t imagine why a school would delete a drive account though, so check your facts.

It would delete a drive account since you are not there at school and already graduated At least that is what my sister said for hers

I did what you said about granting permisson and here is what the message said:

Sorry cannot transfer files over to this account user XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
You must be in the same domain in order to transfer your files?

I'm with JustRalph, I don't trust the cloud either. Nothing that is on a computer connected to the internet can be completely safe. If you want to keep it forever back it up yourself and put it somewhere 'safe'.

Still a relatively new innovation, cloud storage has attracted a lot of scrutiny in recent months. Before entrusting sensitive data to third party storage facilities, consumers want to know that their information is going to be stored safely and reliably. And is it? The simple answer is yes. Despite scare tactics devised by hackers to undermine consumer perception of the cloud, cloud storage remains one of the safest ways to store your data today. Let’s take a look at why.

If what you have fits under your bed , that’s one thing, if what you have requires 1000 sq feet, thats another. Dealers choice.

Sorry, cannot help with your particulars, but “sharing”
