new rules for my gym
1. you have to make an appointment to walk in the place
2. once you get in, there cannot be more than 25 people in the place and you have to be out of their 70 minutes after you walk in.
3. you can use the cardio machine for up to 70 minutes, but you will have to leave without using weights or taking a shower.
4. you have to wear a mask for the whole time you are in the place, and after you use a machine you have to clean it off.
5. you cannot use the hydro message.
6. i was told to expect a price increase.
i am being billed for this at my old rate, i am going to wait it out a month and then quit my membership if things don't change. i don't like working out with a mask on. i can continue to run outside at 3 a.m. without a mask, even though it was humid as hell this morning its better than the treadmill in the gym for now.

Which is why I try to avoid automatic payments on your credit card or bank account.I do for my three credit cards and a few other things but send me a bill otherwise.

my gym was closed 3 months and they wouldnt answer the phone so you could not give them a 30 day notice to cancel. they asked on their website for compassion for their employees, which I get, but isnt my taxes paying for that with the PPP loan that they got?

My wife is a 5-day a week aquatics girl.
(My hero.)
Her gym put everyone on $15 per month during the closure.
Now they've reopened with rules similar to Lambo's, but 50 people instead of 25. (It is a big gym.)
However, the pool class is now 1pm - the slowest time of day - but a bad time for the seniors.
Beth complained using her patented phrase: "That doesn't work for me."
They relented and left her on the $15 per month. However, the subscription -which was supposed to be over in Sept. - is being pushed out for all the months she's been paying $15 for a gym that wasn't open.
This is one of those industries that is going to have a giant shake out.
On a related note, a very good friend of mine is a top-level executive with a well-known manufacturer of home gyms. (And I do mean they really make them in their US-based factories.)
This is very close to verbatim to what he said: "We sold more $20k home gym sets in the 1st 70 days of lock down that we have in the past 5 years."
When we spoke last (on Wednesday) he said that his business has actually INCREASED in the last 45 days!
He also said that the company's annual goal (including projected growth) was met in mid-May!

My son and I are getting krazy fit from walking and jogging long, steep hills. Enhanced physical condition and more time with him have been positive aspects of the pandemic.

I'm in the best shape of my life...at 58.5 years old. Hopefully I can keep this up even in the post-pandemic era.
