You can insult the founding fathers, and the sitting president...and still "love your country". "Country" doesn't mean 'government'. YOU didn't say that Duckworth hates America"...but Tucker Carlson did, several times.

When someone says that they love their country, to most minds this would mean that they love what the government's political ideals stand for. (I've been to California several times and love the beauty of the state, but I would never move there because I could never stomach the politics of the leftists out there.) Duckworth very obviously doesn't love America on that basis, and would greatly prefer, instead, a very different kind of government ideals. She, in fact, typifies the hatred that most leftists feel about the founding ideals of this nation.

Her words now reveal the current state of her heart. As stated previously, her severe wounds could have profoundly changed her psychologically -- even spiritually.

I know people who once professed to be Christians but because of trials or afflictions that had come into their life, they have abandoned God in anger -- even in hatred.

War is a very traumatic experience, and no two people handle it alike. For her it had to be especially traumatic because she lost a good percentage of her body parts. Wouldn't surprise me at all if she felt betrayed by her government. But her personal bitterness toward government doesn't justify her sentiments about the founding of this nation. Toss in a likely poor education in American history by loony leftists in her schools, and she'd be a ripe candidate to become one of them.

If this is the true meaning of "loving a country"...then I despise all the countries in the world. IMO...all the world's governments suck, because all the politicians in the world are self-serving crooks. And what they call "ideals" is just a poorly-disguised hypocrisy. You can be maimed in conflict and hate your country after the fact, this sure would not be the first case.

Being injured badly does not make you immune from criticism.

That being said I think this is a segment he should have skipped, people can decide for themselves on her current opinions on her country.

As an American citizen you can have Marxism/Socialism views. And as an American citizen you can view those with Marxism/Socialism views as less than period. This is the split inside this county, call it anything you like but the less than is being defined to even new lows and the longer this goes on the more you will despise everything.
