Japanese horse under consideration for Derby

The Japanese have been investing strongly to raise the talent level of their race horses for quite awhile now. I understand the added stress of a big trip etc, but they've been acquiring some salty genetics, so I wouldn't automatically write a horse off just because it's coming from Japan. It isn't like the horses we have are all undefeated G1 winners.

Is that his last prep or will he have one more race?

Note at the 30s mark (on the timer) Cafe Pharoah bobbles sharply on the inside; not sure he was handling it. Perhaps being stuck on the inside was a problem, too.

Lot's of excuses. I'd still send him over, he'll be 50-1 and maybe even 1st time lasix.

I think he didn't like the mud one bit,would put a line through the race.
I can see them sending him over for the Derby..........any on the board finish would catch the far east breeding eye.
For whatever reason, I don't think his current jockey looks great on a horse......an american rider would be a must for him in the Derby.
He's loaded with talent,I'd take a long look at him the first Saturday in........September.

Can we just stop with this foreign invader stuff. Every year there is a horse from overseas that's going to test our best 3 year olds and it turns out to be a lot of smoke but no fire. Until they come here and run in our Derby preps and acclimate themselves to our tracks and racing it will be the same tired song and dance as every other year.
