hi guys, not trying to act like a ahole but was wondering since we are posting like so for our team 3-4-7/8-9? i guess theres no way we can keep track of individual roi's? for the length of the league contest but we can determine a teams roi? or are we not doing anything like that this time out?

just curious or maybe a thought for next time.

Joey, this is a "team" contest. Don't worry about individual ROI's. It's about representing your team and collaborating. The rest will work itself out. Adjustments can be made before we start actual league play next weekend.

INPUT REQUESTED FROM PLAYERS

An explaination of the weekly team point system
and a request for feedback on the point values

DIVISIONAL GAMES

Each Division will play itself 3 times
2 Points are awarded for each team beaten
Max Points 8 - Minimum Points 0

INTER-DIVISIONAL GAMES

Each Division will play every other Division 1 time
Teams from each Division are pooled
1 Point awarded for each team beaten
Max Points 9 - Minimum Points 0

CONFERENCE GAME

All 5 Divisions in Conference will play each other 1 time
Entire Conference is pooled
1 Point awarded for each team beaten
Max Points 24 - Minimum Points 0

FULL FIELD GAME

Entire League plays each other 1 time
Entire League is pooled
1 Point awarded for each team beaten
Max Points 49 - Minimum Points 0

***

I believe the Divisional and Inter-Divisional games are good
I request feedback on the point structure for the Conference & Full Field games
Should we cut back the points to 1/2 point per team beaten
so teams don't lose contact with the field

Thanks

Personally, I don't think losing contact with the field is a consideration. The object is to get to the playoffs. It makes no difference if you're first or fifteenth (and 40 GB) after the regular season games.

I like the original plan.

My only concern falls under the Full Field week. One week of the utmost success and several weeks of failure could still legitimately place you in the playoffs. I understand its a big accomplish to outscore 49 other teams, but to award a team the equivolent of beating their division 6 times over is a bit excessive.

On the other side of the table, one bad week (Full Field week) where you get crushed and finish last, you'll need to be in full wrecking force the remainder of the season just to catch up.

Think about it as if it were football, what if one game counted as 6 wins? Its going to create a large gap to recover from for many teams and put some on such a pedestal it will be difficult to catch.

Patrick,

Go to this link: http://mysite.verizon.net/whobet/trks2day.html

On the upper left hand side you'll see (below) beside the Briswatch logo - click on Saturday and then the races you want. Then you need to find the race on the menu.

Tom, the full schedule for the year is in Post #6 of the STANDINGS AND UPDATES thread.

Today is a Conference game where Teams 1 to 25 and Teams 26 to 50 are playing each other for 1 Point per team beaten.

FULL FIELD GAME

Entire League plays each other 1 time
Entire League is pooled
1 Point awarded for each team beaten
Max Points 49 - Minimum Points 0

This should be the last game of the season before the playoffs to keep it interesting. This way any team might have a chance to qualify for the playoffs until the end of the season. It would be an incentive to keep playing.

Al, I think this might be a good idea! I would consider switching the Week 8 Full Field Game with the Week 15 Conference games to allow for teams to still have the Maximum of 49 points available on the last game of the Regular Season.

I welcome any other comments on this topic.

Not to clog up the current thread...

From this week - can you clarify a couple things?

Quote:
3 – 7 – 4 (12 – 8) top 3 picks with the alternates being 12 & 8 in that order. Team would receive $2.00 payouts for #3, #7 & #4 for Win/Place/Show (assuming no scratches)
Race comes in 4-3-7

You get show price for 7
You get place and show for 3
You get only show price for 4 - because you put him third?

What is 4 is scratched? 12 becomes the second pick?

Thanks!

Tom,

It doesn't matter what order you put those first 3 selections in as you receive the Win/Place/Show payouts for all 3; as well as the $2.00 Exacta if one of the combos hit.

It only matters when you decide to give weight to one of your selections by posting that one twice (ie. 4-4-3). Here you get the W/P/S payouts for the #4 and the #3 but you get double credit for the #4. You can only put a number twice in the first two spots.

Also, with the 2 Selection method (ie. 4-4-3) you would get the 4-3 Exacta four times if it hits and the 3-4 Exacta twice if it hits.

If a number scratches, the first alternate moves into the equation. If the double credit number scratches, both alternates move into the equation and you have a three horse Exacta Box.

Clear as mud,

Trotter

OK, thanks.
I thought you meant that, but I wasn't sure.
I've been trying to put them in order.
I like this better!
