The horse was in prime position near the front in slow fractions around the half. Was just waiting for his late kick when I knew something disastrous happened. I felt good things awaited this horse. Perhaps some G2 victories. Very unfortunate.

What highs and lows. So sad.
Mark Casse and Mr.Oxley won two races last night at Churchill--one of them, the Stephen Foster, with Noble Bird.
Danzig Moon loses his life today at Woodbine. RIP Danzig Moon. <3

That sucks. I bet him pretty heavy in the Derby. What a shame. Thoughts go out to his connections. Dammit.

I wonder, did the new poly gabage track contribute to this horse breaking down.

I would say no, but we'll never know.
That's a pretty safe track at Woodbine.
So is Golden Gate Fields with a similar surface.
Unfortunately, it could have happened on any track.
RIP Danzig Moon

The lows are lower than the highs are high, this game will humble the strongest of people, like I always say this is the toughest game played outdoors.......very SAD day

PS, the surface there isn't new.

RXB is correct:
The company that operates Woodbine in Ontario said a Tapeta surface will replace the Polytrack surface, first used in August 2006, in time for the 2016 meet.
Installation of the Tapeta surface will begin Dec. 1. The current Polytrack surface will remain in use throughout the 2015 season.

Agreed. He was the type who could have made it in the gate of enough G1 races that he was going to win a few.

Rear end injuries are far more common on artificial surfaces, than dirt or turf.
