Exchange wagering with Betfair
I don’t live in New Jersey so not too familiar with it, but until recently I was under the impression that if you did live in NJ that you could bet through the exchange on any track that was running, but apparently each individual track has to approve it before you can bet on races there using the exchange and I guess the two biggest companies that combined own a lot of tracks won’t allow exchange betting .
So I was just curious is there a decent amount of tracks that you can choose from if your able to bet on the exchange or are you stuck being only able to play a few tracks ?

Hey Allan appreciate the info. That seems like a fairly good amount of tracks to bet on.
Does anybody bet using the exchange ? And if you do than how do you like it compared to traditional betting ?

Since I am the biggest advocate on Exchange wagering on this forum. You can just run a search on key words "exchange wagering" and poster is biggestal99. You will find 4 years of posts on the subject from yours truly.
I live in Jersey and bet the X on a daily basis.

Great for uk races, 1,000,000+ Matched per race
Not so much for us races. Usually 30,000 - 50,000 on the tracks I play.
I am playing Tampa bay today. I will post the matched bets at the end of the card.

How liquid are the markets on betfair? Can you usually get better odds, even on longer shots. How much can you usually get down at these better odds?

It’s stronach and Churchill, they fear the x and losing pm handle.
Smaller tracks welcome the x, knowing they will get exposure.

Yes but the actual percentage I'm unsure of. The only number I've seen was in a DRF article about Kentucky Downs wanting to allow their races on the exchange last year. The stated percentage in the article was 2%. I'm unaware of the accuracy of that number.
The exchange is great and has changed the way I approach wagering on horses. The main disappointment for me personally is a lack of NYRA on the exchange. I had hoped after nearly 2 years of Betfair up and running in Jersey that an agreement would have been reached by now. Hopefully one day.
