Chicago teachers union refuses to work until it is safe
Classroom teaching is just too risky for them now. They are afraid of getting china virus and dying. This video summarizes their position. Even mayor Lightfoot wants them to go back to work.

They give good teachers a bad name. My wife teaches 3 days a week at a university method middle school. She doesn't have to teach, but does so because she loves what she does and the effect it has on kids, she loves helping younger teachers, and is an advocate for her principal (a non political being who puts education first)
Teacher unions have a bad effect on education. Plain and simple. We don't have to deal with teacher's unions here

These teachers are lazy scumbags.
The teachers themselves will do more harm to the kids than covid will.

I think that you work or collect unemployment insurance, people are as soft as grapes. Unions can't get dues from someone collecting unemployment checks right? This should be across the board for all sectors without exception, again nothing learned from this virus.

I would become a teacher then I wouldn't be subjected to an environment where infection was a distinct possibility.

46er's solution would be to have the entire country shut down tighter than a drum.. only"until it's safe" of course. 
P.S. And "safe" may never arrive since many public health officials are saying masking up is probably forever.
