I took PA's post as sarcasm (hopefully, I was correct), but not yours.
How sad for you! Courageous men and women fought and many DIED for THIS U.S.
I will never let it go!
Better to try to fix the flaws, rather than to TRANSFORM this U.S. into something that you and your children and your grandchildren will surely someday regret.
Here's a song for ya...RED, WHITE, AND BLUE 'PRIDE'
Get some!

I'll let PA answer for himself. Considering the current times, I found the post genuinely funny.
Thanks for your input though (and your pity) they're always welcome !

I'm glad you mentioned that women died for the U.S. because the song only mentioned men dying.

The Star Spangled Banner is around 80 bars. America The Beautiful is around 64 bars.
Although, shorter might be better then people would not have to stand as long.
I would change the line "God shed His grace on thee" to "God's grace shines down on thee" because some people think the gender of God is She. Plus, "God shed" is past tense whereas "God's grace shines" is eternal.
Gender and tense notwithstanding, I vote for America The Beautiful to be the new national anthem.

"This Land is Your Land" - written with the original title of ''God Blessed America'' as an answer to Irving Berlin's anthem.

One of my pet peeves is that the Anthem is never sung in this, its original form. I worked for the Reds as an usher for four years a while ago, and I saw a lot of different genres, you might call it: glee clubs, baritone firemen, diva-wannabes (they're the worst), folkies, rockers, and everything else. But I've never seen a quartet or so of big-bellied guys singing it with the rollicking swagger of a barroom sing-along. Even I might be moved to participate in that, and I never sing in public.
