One of Todd's spring flowers....an 850k one....went down on the training track this week.

Montauk, in a catastrophic breakdown, experienced a shoulder fracture. He was euthanized on the track. I'm glad I was on the main at the time and I was so sorry for this young horse. These things never get easier.

Mendelssohn is a fine horse and will do well.

Horses like My Boy Jack and Instilled Regard will be heard from as well. Feels better then last year, which was not won until West Coast late season swoon.

Mckinzie is still out there as well at the mile distance or so.
What ever happened to Nero? Think he is super talented but obviously has issues.

That Principe Guilherme colt? My buddy bet him twice in the Future Wagers, then he had an off race and poof, he's disappeared. I looked him up for weeks and then gave up. Asmussen was his trainer.

Edit: I just looked him up again and found this.

I think they pulled him, not sure if it was injury or the fact he was a nut case.

Either way if he makes it back a break may have been a good thing, I was told he was Bafferts best 2yo back at Del Mar but that head....

As an indicator, Solomini just ran a non-threatening third at 1-5 against a maiden winner.

another head case, with "potential" but just not cut out for racing, but may be a late developer, you never know. He can run some distance I think.

I think Vino is a head case, too though

Yeah, that wasn't particularly encouraging about this crop given he finished relatively close to some of the good horses in the Derby even though he was 10th.

Did you watch the race? I am not saying he is any good, because Baffert has had struggles with him all spring, but that trip was a joke and thats how you lose at 1/5.

I dont know if the winner is much, but he was the "other" horse in the race in terms of any kind of talent.

I did. The fractions were slow, he was wide, and I think he was on the wrong lead for at least part of the stretch (which he often does), but I didn't think his trip was so terrible relative to the winner that he should have been outfinished the way he was.

I'd be more apt to excuse the performance if it was a legitimate stakes race.

If he was legitimately good on Sunday he should have at least picked up the 2nd horse.
