A Hollywood personality with a name who has never really done anything wants some attention. That seems to be the popular means of getting it these days, by making outlandish remarks like that. Not much different than "over the hill has-been" Madonna telling millions on TV she wanted to blow up the white house. These are deranged liberals alright, but their main objective is attention. Most of their bullshit is too dumb and far-out to be taken seriously and bothered by.
