If this plan does go through I would like to see an early start of 6PM so the last race on the card ends at a decent hour so the spectators and track and back stretch workers have a chance to get some sleep as the horses still need the early morning care. As we can see their are plusses and minuses with this move, however, it has been positive when tried at other tracks.

I do,think they need to run week nights or like Woodbine and Hong Kong one weeknight. One thing going against Belmont at night is its location and footprint. I have a hard time envisioning leaving Belmont Park at night, walking through the backyard to the parking lots. Also the location isn't going to attract the younger crowd, which is currently all in Manhattan and Brooklyn for the most part and I doubt they are taking the LIRR to Belmont. Happy Valley in HK works well because it's in the city and a 10 minute drive or 25 minute subway or tram ride from Central HK. Some development around Belmont would help.

Pen would get my attention. I already play more Pen then Bel.
I prefer night racing over any day racing.
Who would play - maybe people who have jobs and have to work all day?

Chris Kay was on TLG's podcast, and had a great explanation for doing so. Said all the right things, and sounds like a good experiment for the long-term growth of the game.

I won't be watching at night.
A good way to turn ghost town into super duper ghost town.

I agree. Now is the time for new ideas. Or more accurately, try something different. Think outside the box

A few scattered incandescents here and there and bright silks do the job just fine, so relax be happy, every 10 seconds or so you'll see horses instead of shadows. And hear race announcers whose staccato calls in Spanish are more interesting than intelligible. Actually, they're terrific, can you imagine our announcers trying to call a 15 horse field they can't see racing 5 furlongs in nearly pitch dark conditions?
The irony is that as fast as the race calls are delivered, it often takes 10-15 minutes for the race to be declared official, longer if it's a stakes race. A Chilean stakes race OFFICIAL sign earlier this year was delayed for over 30 minutes while the winning connections were serenaded by a Mariachi band.

NASCAR has been installing lights around 1.5 mile tracks for over 20 years.
And those systems are much more than what is needed for horse racing.
MUSCO, the sports venue lighting company has come a long way in lighting technology. its better light, more energy efficient and less costly.

Too early. Ever been on the LIE, GCP, or Cross Island at 6PM on a weeknight?

I've left plenty of Devils games at night and parked always from the arena but its in a lit up city.

How often is it that you go out for an evening and when the night is over you exit through a dark park? It isn't safety so much as just a weird feel. That's why I think development around the park will help
