DOES TRUMP HAVE LONG COATTAILS IN NEXT ELECTION

"The majority of American senators have seen a drop in their net approval ratings since President Donald Trump took office in January, according to a new Morning Consult poll of the senators' constituents.
Notably, both Republicans in consistently red states and Democrats in deeply blue states have taken a hit.
Arizona Republicans Jeff Flake and John McCain saw 14-point and 12-point drops, respectively, while Rhode Island's Democratic senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse both took 20-point hits.
Three Republicans - Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Flake, and McCain - are viewed negatively by a plurality of their constituents.
McConnell maintained his long-held position as the least popular senator in America, with a 48% disapproval rating, while former Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders held steady as the most popular.
The poll surveyed 140,000 registered voters across the country between April 1 and June 18, 2017. "

A list of most popular and least favorable senators at link.

I don't think it Trump/s coattails that will be at work as much as it if that BOTH parties have disgusted and pissed of so many people, NO ONE want to vote any of the pigs on the hill anymore.

Insiders are out and not soon enough.
I say, in every election, vote OUT the incumbent, no matter who it is.
NO MAN ALIVE is worthy of two terms. We have use the one power we have - the vote - to clean up DC. The WORST thing in the world is a career politician on either side. We need new people, fresh ideas, people without a power base who are there to serve US. I would say today, less than 3% in office care about us at all. And that is being generous.

... which would give us a democratic congress.

Or do you think those incumbent republicans will just quietly remove themselves from the tickets so that other new republicans could step up?

I thought we had a democratic congress today?

It's like new shoes, Dave, they hurt a but at first, but once you get them broken in, they fit better. We will never again have one part control for two cycles. We will get rid of the total garbage we have in there today, rotting, festering in their little holes. Decaying critters passing fertilizer for laws.

not necessarily - if the recumbants 'retire' are lose the primary, the party seat could remain the same

McCain needs to go - no need having a senator trying to get the president out when they are from your own party...

It's easy to trip over long coattails.

Back in the day sure, don't see how he can do better than horses. He believes in the train wreck. Truth is calling anything longer than 5 weeks out is lunacy, right now the urine is flowing from the left. Soon it will be flowing on the left, numbers fluctuate.

The easiest way for President Donald J. Trump to get these idiot Republicans in line is this:

(1) first tweet that this GOP b-shat ends right now, then go on every Cable show that's worth the time and name the names of those GOP idiots that's derailing the people's will. He should also say that the Freedom Caucus is not to blame, nor are the Democrats.

(2)Trump should tell the country it is the GOP leadership that's the problem, and that all this ends right now!

(3) Trump should also remind these GOP idiots that all those that fight him and his agenda to Make America Great Again will be publicly called out by him come election time.

(4) And finally, Trump needs to ask these GOP idiots this question -- "Do you want me to endorse, support and campaign for you, or do you want to run on your own record?

This is how it should be done. And to answer the OP, Trump is the coat-tail, not the Paul Ryan's or Mitch McConnell's of Congress. Trump saved the GOP in 2016 by winning and he is their future savior as well. Mark my words.

Great plan. Sounds like a mortal lock to get Trump's agenda passed by Congress and his legacy firmly established for the ages.

Trump won't influence the next election mid-terms much, unless by some miracle he's able to author and push through real health care, tax or economic reform - which is virtually impossible without a CONgress that's willing to get the job done.

Anyone who thinks CONgress is out to help Americans with health care is obviously delusional, with this recent push by the Republicans held up by a single senator from Arizona needing an operation, as the latest excuse for reform. Really?

The reform has been done and is serving its purpose - lining the health care industrys' pockets with fat profits, and allowing the government to siphon off some of the booty via taxes. Simple math proves the game can't go on much longer, but for now we suffer.

The next elections will come down to the candidate, regardless of party, who can pitch the most believable story about real health care reform or new jobs. Incumbents (cronies) who supported Obamacare or flip-flopped on the issue will be easily beaten. I'd go so far as to predict some candidates will take the Bernie Sanders socialist "free lunch" route to get votes, and may succeed, though he's being targeted now by the establishment.

That one is simple reality. Even with 52 Republicans in the Senate, the best McConnell hopes for right now is to get 50 votes, which gives the VP a vote to break the tie. Without McCain, it looks like he only has 49 votes.

That reality is a prime symptom of how inept the leadership is in dealing with the problem and writing a bill that actually improves the situation.

You are correct in all your assessments, especially the part where you said my idea was a 'great plan'.

Trump does need to call out the GOP fraudsters. Put them on notice, and if they continue to put up roadblocks then the people will know the real score come Nov. 2018.

Trust me on this. If Trump does something along these lines the GOP 'leaders' will fall in line very, very quickly.

Trump vs. the GOP ... no contest. Go to the bank on Trump. Go all in.
