Tapit Shoes - 12/3 FG 7th - memories!

A horse named TAPIT SHOES just won the 7th race at Fair Grounds today. He ran greenly in the stretch and seemed to have an interesting way of running. He's a 2yo half brother to CYBERKNIFE.

What struck me about him was that in my very first "Derby Trail" - 1981 - the great Horatio Luro trained a Derby contender named TAP SHOES - who I remember having something "different" about the way he ran. Although I can't recall what it was.

Got me wondering if the name had any "throwback" significance.

Thanks for sending me on a cool Equibase rabbit hole! I didn't know that - but my ignorance makes sense. His last race for Tesher was the Champagne in October 1980. My first time at the track (Aqu) was December 3, 1980. Tap Shoes next start was at Hialeah in March 1981 under Luro.

Love a little history lesson!
