Cuomo is as big or maybe an even bigger idiot than his father.
He sold out the non indian residents of NY as well as business interests that could have grossed the State many times that piddly $210 mil...
Cuomo wet his underoos because the Senecas were going to pay for an anti casino referendum...Big deal.

Can't blame them but then again, can't support them either.
I have noticed that smaller tracks are avoiding weekend dates. I believe this may be because they don't wish to attempt to compete with NYRA or So Cal.
THese two entities probably account for over 50% of the simulcast and ADW handle on weekends. Which means, nobody is betting Finger Lakes or Suffolk, etc.

FL has targeted Mon-tues for years.
Sundays, they got poor attendence, even with NFL and food specials, and Bet the Pros and Ponies contests.

They need to construct a gorgeous, state of the art, sportsbook with brand new HUGE tv's with all the games, and of course, horse betting at FL. Its 2013, there's no excuse for any track to not have a state of the art "racebook" that shows a ton of sports. They need to make a "vegas feel" to it.

This x10

I'm hoping that the new River Downs opening next year will be as such, being that the new owners also own Belterra casino. It's competing with a brand new Horseshoe casino in Cinci, so my expectations are high.

We don't have the budget of SRU Downs.

What's up with this long delay before the 6th race? There was another bad breakdown on the slop today, and FL has been taking recent heat:

http://www.democratandchronicle.com/...track/3386739/

So are jocks refusing to ride? Or maybe they're doing some impromptu track work, or waiting for an ambulance?

EDIT: Yikes, so according to a down-sounding Tony Calo, the horses had been loaded in the gate for the 6th when one of the horses had an incident. Must have been bad to send all the horses back to the paddock for a long delay.

Not a good day at FL.

Wonder how many of those 100+ breakdowns over the last few years shipped in from NYRA?

Appalling stats for both tracks.

Slot money is bad news for racing.
I hope the pols get greedy real quick and take it ALL away.
Not a red cent to racing.

This horse-flipping incident resulted in jockey Rudy Ignacio suffering multiple leg fractures. Wishing him the best for a full recovery..

The horse in question had cuts and scrapes, but otherwise okay.

FL judges looked at the 6th race "inquiry" about 40 times, when it was clear as day that the 4 horse caused the problems. The 4 finished out of the money, yet the judges felt it necessary to view this 50 times from every different angle.

Not sure what they were expecting to see that they couldnt have seen on the first or 2nd go around.

I liked the comment - Not sure if they have left the gate or not. Your guess is as good as mine.

Yeah, for all we know a horse might have cut through the infield and joined the rest of the horses in the stretch!

Anyone streaming FL today? I've been trying to stream from their site for the last 20 minutes, but just getting a blank page via my VLC player. It was working fine earlier..
