I've often wondered if the figure makers ever attempted to look through old historical data to use figures to quantify the level of competition historically.I'd be curious to know what Man O War would typically run or what Apollo ran his Derby in back in 1882.

Bill Quirrin did in his first book Winning at the Races, using his DRF+TV adjustment procedure, but not that far back.

Didn't Quinn do the same thing or something simular? I recall one book that listed either the best or some of the best speed figures earned by some of best horses at least as far back as the 70's. Tom, are we refering to the same thing?
