The Tracknet Dictators Are At It Again

I see the Tracknet dictators are flexing their muscles again:

http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-raci...262&source=rss

And to think MAGNA ENTERTAINMENT and PINNACLE RACECOURSE as a couple of examples, were dumb enough to join Tracknet who appear to be run by some executives who are real pr's (and I'm not talking about 'prince's'' like some companies are fortunate to have as leaders). I haven't noticed MAGNA ENTERTAINMENT go into the black ink ever since joining Tracknet. I have my doubts whether PINNACLE RACECOURSE wll enjoy increased prosperity in the near future, what with being saddled by the albtratross called Tracknet. Pardon my cynicism about Tracknet, but so far they seem to be nothing but bad news for horseplayers in many ways, for racetracks and ADW's under their control.

That really took the cake when I saw Tracknet dictating to PTC that they couldn't give more than a 2 % rebate on any type of bet on Tracknet racetracks. Again, what a bunch OF #%$@&! dictators those Tracknet characters are. I hope Philly Phonebet tells them where to go!

The best thing that could ever happen is if HANA gets very big and has a say in all this stuff.

While there are certainly valid reasons to dislike some of what TrackNet has done, I am having trouble finding fault here.

From reading the story, it sounds like Philly Park's simulcast agreement specifically does not cover PhoneBet, just the tracks and OTB's. The story alleges that Philly is violating that contract. The story also states that TrackNet is not asking Philly to do anything different to get the content for their ADW than they are asking of any other ADW in the US, but one would surmise that Philly hasn't agreed.

So unless there is more going on than is being reported (a distinct possibility) I can't bash TrackNet over this.

If I were a PTC executive, I'd be asking Tracknet why they are demanding that PTC pay no more than a 2% rebate to their customers, when BET AMERICA.COM states right on their website that they pay a 3 % rebate to customers if they make wagers on GULFSTREAM PARK or PINNACLE RACECOURSE. Like some other PA members have so aptly stated...why should it be any of Tracknet's business what ADWS offer for rebates once they've paid the agreed-upon signal rate to TRACKNET? That's another thing that PTC should check into, but this time with a lawyer.

Tracknet will only get the message when it affects their bottom line, that is, when enough customers who used to play Tracknet tracks take their business to other tracks. When executives who make these decisions are fired because of significant handle loss, then is when you will see changes. Until then, expect Tracknet to act like bullies.

Excellent points Track Collector:

--Along with Tracknet, some other favorite horse race organizations on my detest list are TOC, THG and HPI. I love to 'rub in their faces' so to speak, by telling them certain things in emails that I don't like about their selfish 'me', 'myself' and "I' attitudes. These attitudes are displayed in things like arrogance, stinginess, greed, over-priced products and services, being two-faced, short-sighted, taking, grabbing...in other words, believing that doing anything in their self-delusional world with these kind of attitudes and actions will increase their bottom line substantially over time. My answer to that is :

--WRONG! The right way is by GIVING. Things like going the extra mile in customer service, offering generous rebates, sharing, collaborating instead of confronting and demanding things, helping, focusing on the customers needs first...not 'their' needs first etc. These characters need to be reminded...The universal law is 'GIVE AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE', not 'take and you shall receive'.

--I also like to 'rub it in their faces' by telling those horse racing organizations on my detest list from above, that until they get their act together to put customers first, that I'll continue to bet some of their tracks mainly at offshore racebooks. Then they get nothing, nada, zilch, zero. In my opinion, more bettors need to do the same with some of these despicable lowlifes and tell them in some emails what you should be getting as a customer...It took awhile, but I've come to the conclusion that THE MOST IMPORTANT PEOPLE IN THE HORSE RACING BUSINESS ARE THE CUSTOMERS! Without them, the other sections involved in horse racing would be out of business.

--One last thing, to show what hypocrites Tracknet are, I'd bet that Tracknet doesn't dictate to those few ADWS that cater only to the million-dollar-a-year-minimum-bettors, that they can't offer their customers more than a 2 % rebate.
