Hammer and Sickle vodka was the last I tried and was most enjoyable. I am not a real vodka connoisseur, mostly bloodies on the strong side.

Unbelievable Anejo
For my money The Corralejo 99,000 Horas is the best Tequila. Get a fifth and put in the freezer. Have a 2-finger glass and sip. Great sleep aid!!!

Finally, somebody who understands the concept of a 2-finger glass of tequila. I try to request that in restaurants or people's homes and they have no clue what I am talking about. Thank you! Seriously, thank you.

A good, solid drink.

Replay Randall and The Ladies Man both........
I would have put Lancey Howard down as a bourbon man.
Just a guess, though.
Personally, most bourbons and Irish whiskeys work for me.
Common denominator? Ice and some club soda

I did try some Evan Williams and would have to agree with you, I just wish I had agreed with CJ's Dad at the time he posted. This whole thread is great and am glad to see it again.

No love here for peppermint schnapps, the entry level liquor for 10th graders everywhere?

While I've always been a Knob Creek Bourbon guy, a wealthy developer in Nogales, Mexico treated us to his personal stash of Bacanora at a party one time. If you've never had it, it's an agave extract similar to Tequilla originally made in the hills by Indians. Super smooth, rocket fuel. Ten of us were supposed to fly home the following day, three or four didn't even make it to the airport.

Funny. A couple of days ago I was thinking about the time I went to a liquor store in, I think, Juarez. I couldn't remember the name Corralejo, but when I said "botella alta de azul" they found it. Definitely a good tequila for drinking straight.
Camarena is exceptionally smooth sipping tequila. Goes down very easy.
i would still say Don Julio tops the chart for straight Tequila.
I can't tolerate brown liquor or vodka, but because I spent so much time in Mexico and developed good friendships, I got a lot of tutoring on Tequila's.
Tequila rules
- don't use your best tequila in margaritas.
- use the right tequila (silver, reposada or anejo)
- Cuervo isn't very high on my tequila list. Develop a taste for good tequila and you won't go back to cuervo.
- Marinate skirt steak overnight in Tequila (Cuervo would do for this), tabasco olive oil, lots of garlic, salt, pepper, and green chiles. Grill to medium rare and slice thin against the grain. Put the steak on a flour tortilla with browned onions and green and red bell peppers. Top with guacamole and sour cream. Best fajita you'll ever eat.

I saw some tall-boy sized cans of MD 20/20 last night in a drive-thru. When you think you've seen it all.....
