Watching 9/11 on TV, Rudy was a symbol of strength. I have no idea about his reputation other than he cleaned up NYC. That alone was monumental. And he got a lot of mob guys. Impressive.
When I look the mayors since him, I see garbage, liars, thieves, idiots.

You say Fox News is garbage along with Breitbart. Fine.
You gotta eat shit on "news" from garbage places like Buzzfeed, Vox, Slate, Axios, HuffPo, and DailyNews. They are all hard left-leaning rags like Tom said. IF you are getting your news and insights from these places then you've already lost any integrity.

Good analysis. New York was a mess before Rudy, with an average of over 3,000 murders per year, which was reduced to around 300 a year in the five boroughs. Times Square was a disgrace and an embarrassment and other parts of Manhattan were dirty and crime-ridden. The Mafia basically ran the city. Rudy's administration kicked the mob out of the Javitts Center, The Fulton Fish Market, the San Genaro Feast, etc. He was an incredibly effective politician who followed through on his campaign promises.

How could a quest for remaining relevance and hooking up with this SLOB make it worthwhile to sell you soul?
I don't get it.

You two guys gave the most compelling view of reality than anyone has. Most have ideas on this subject that closely in alignment with yours.

Almost all urban centers experienced a decline in crime
Lead: America’s Real Criminal Element
https://www.motherjones.com/environm...ildren-health/
Gasoline lead may explain as much as 90 percent of the rise and fall of violent crime over the past half century.
Intriguingly, violent crime rates followed the same upside-down U pattern. The only thing different was the time period: Crime rates rose dramatically in the ’60s through the ’80s, and then began dropping steadily starting in the early ’90s. The two curves looked eerily identical, but were offset by about 20 years.

Did removing lead from petrol spark a decline in crime?

What's Behind The Decline In Crime?

More persuasive are explanations that point to environmental and social factors. Backed by scientific evidence, several of these theories are widely credited for playing at least a minor role in crime’s decline. Perhaps the most popular—the lead hypothesis—argues that exposure to lead causes aggressive behavior. Evidence links the passage of the 1970 Clean Air Act and the phasing out of lead from gasoline and paint to decreased crime levels.

Probably all the drugs they're pumping into kids the last couple of decades...then again, the side-effect seems to be an increase in mass shootings, despite guns being far less accessible then they used to be when I was a kid...guess you can't have everything.

Why is it so hard to grasp Rudy was overrated? During and right after 9/11 he did his job, but speak to your NYC black friends and get their opinions
Guess when all the cronies get booted out you will finally get it.
